I'd like to have a digital photo printed BIG -- any suggestions about who could do this? The image is 2592 x 1944 pixels (5MP camera). How large could this be printed before the resolution looks silly? The general idea is to print a digi pic as a poster. Are there places online that you can submit a file which they'll print and post?

cheers :)

My local photolab has an Epson printer that can print posters, so I would imagine you won't have any trouble, try ringing a couple local to you.

As for quality, the ones in my local shop look OK, but there is software available that can increase file sizes quite effectively - try Genuine Fractals (http://www.lizardtech.com/products/gf/gf.php) :)

Can you define "BIG" ?

For example, www.photobox.co.uk can print off a 30inch x 20inch shot from a cropped 6Mp image (probably more like 5Mp after the crop) no problem for £19. Looks great as well.

Cheers

30 in by 20 in is big enough! Thanks for the link -- that's exactly what I was looking for :)

Fatman,

I used printhouse digital ( www.printhousedigital.co.uk (http://www.printhousedigital.co.uk) ) for one.

The file size was only 1.3 meg (scanned negative) and the end poster was A1 size.

Very good result and you see the prrof, etc, before printing.
