Does the Scoobysport (Leda) suspension improve the handling on a MY00 classic? I drive mainly motorway roads. I would not want the suspension any harder than the std setup. I dont push the car hard or near it's limits. I have fitted 17inch alloys.

How would I benefit from Leda suspension, if at all?

Not at all IMHO.
The stock set-up for daily driving/motorway is the best.
If you want to tighten things a bit, then a good alignment via Power Station or suchlike (not a dealer) and a set of Whiteline antiroll bars will do nicely and not ruin the comfort side of a good car.

Any coil-over system will be great for performance driving, but will not much benefit in motorway driving.

The AST suspension isn't harder than a standard car. Thicker anti-roll bars might increase tramlining too much on truck-pitted motorways

 

I would post it as leda suspension, and not scoobysport suspension. Especially since that version of scoobysport no longer exists and the new scoobysport suspension is not made by leda.

 

A coil-over system can be made to be a 'soft' as a stock system, just fit softer springs, but you loose the OEM progressive spring rate and tailored damping to suit.
I don't suffer the tramlining with the bars, but agree some might experience some change.

Whenever you move from the general factory spec to improve some characteristic for a chosen purpose you loose somewhere else.

I was told by someone who has driven one, the Litchfield Type 25 with the AST's is a very nice daily driver, so maybe the sponsor's items above are for you?

I'm just selling my MY01/02 Leda kit at the moment. Not becuase it doesn't provide awsome handling ... it's just that i'm not able to take advantage of it (don't do track days in an impreza anymore as i went and bought a 7).

So for motorways ... don't do it ! keep standard. if you start doing track days ... any decent coilovers LEDA/AST etc will be worth every penny.

ScoobySport no longer sells Leda suspension as we're (Graham Moore - Ex Chief Engineer for Subaru World Rally Team) developing our own with Nitron.

Road testing is happening now (After a year of development), so more news will follow shortly.
