Just had eibachs fitted to my blobeye and i get a banging noise from the front, even going over small bumps. I never had this on my bugeye. I would take the car back to where i had them fitted, but it means taking a day of work, so would like to check out any common problems to see if i cxan fix it.

had this with mine, I killed my OE top mounts after hitting one too many potholes.

Even when taking it off the car the mechanic could see/feel no play as it were, yet after replacement all the banging is gone ;)

OE top mounts- ring HDCsubaru as they are very resonable.

The car is only 6months old, and the banging started the day after they were fitted, so i hope its not that, but it does seem to be getting worse.

ah, sorry my own example is on a MY00 classic.

obviously age/wear and tear isnt the issue on yours (yet)

Not sure if the new age is the same, but on the classic the top spring cap has a hole on one side. This has to be outer most as the strut doesn't sit in the centre of the spring.
If the cap is out the spring sits further in and can catch on the inner wing!

Take it back and get them to check it.

There are some rubbery/foam sleeves that are supplied with the springs. I believe they may have been only supplied for the rears in the past (?).

The front drivers side Eibach on my classic used to knock and rattle - fitted the sleeve to the bottom of the spring (whilst still on car) and the problem was cured. The spring was either shifting in the cup slightly or compressing onto itself and making a noise.

i looked at the springs befor ethey were fitted, i'm sure only the rears had the sleeves on!!!

Same as mine originally - may well be the problem.

I got the guys at Powerstation to fit them to the front of mine when I went and had my geometry checked. They just fitted some they had lying around FOC.

If the problem is the same then it isn't doing any damage to the car. It did drive me mad for about 12 months though

Is there an easy way to diagnose if its these? What sort of banging were you getting?

Mines just started on one side (drivers front) but only if i go over sharp bumps/inclines and not say speed bumps???

Mine do the same! I have an 03 WRX and I had the Eibachs fitted last year at Powerstation. To start with they had no idea what was wrong and they thought they would "bed in" but it now apprears that I'll have to go back and get these plastic sleeves put on!

I agree it's a very odd sound though!

Yep mines the same, not big speed bumps, small pot holes, lumps in the road seem to cause it.

I've not had time to take the car back yet, but will try to soon or speak to them

Sorry Olly, only jus tseen this.

The banging was from all four corners, and only occured at relatively low speed <20mph over very minor ruts and bumps in the road..
I have MRT front top mounts now, and RA rear TM's.. and it seemed to have gone away..
HOWEVER.. :Whatever_
They are still 'banging' :(

I'm thinking possibly the replace all the bushes, maybe (long shot) I damaged the AGX dampers? You cant tell when the car is up on ramps or the struts are removed. (not enough weight I would assume).
I need to get someone to driver the car with me for a decent diagnosis.

Hi
Check the top spring mount is in line, if its out by about 5 deg then they will bang and clatter. Also check drop links and roll bar mounts.
The drop links can knock away quite happily.
I have same spring shock combo as yourself, plus I have sti top mounts, poly bushed front end, ALK and adj. roll bars front and rear.
Hope this helps

Cheers JT. Will bear it all mind.
my own suspension/handling spec fwiw-
Whiteline Anti lift kit
Whiteline Rear Fixed 22mm ARB
OE subaru front ARB
Whiteline Rear drop links
Front and rear upper strut brace
Lower front 4 point brace
KYB AGX 8 way dampers
Eibach pro kit springs

ARB mounts and links are the easiest to check I suppose ;)

Sorry i should have said, the suspension was the standard stuff (the car had done 90k on them as well!!!).

Just fitted the KYBs now and im hoping its gone away, i certainly didnt notice it on the drive i took her on afterwards.

Where /what are the droplinks?

The droplinks are what connects the roll bars to the suspension arms.
