Going to tile one wall in our en-suite with mosaic glass iradescent tiles.

How easy are they to put up?

I'm OK with normal tiles but these things seem really flimsy and awkward to deal with. Is it a DIY job that is fairly simple or should I get a tiler in.

Any help much appreciated.

Not done those flimsy glass type but done ceramic mosaics. Couldn't find many hints/tips myself so just made it up as I went along. It was easy enough as they come on sheets of netting and you can more or less treat them like normal tiles. Cut netting to shape with stanley knife and lay as much as you can in sheets. Then nibble away at a few individual mosaic tiles to fit down any edges you couldn't fill with the sheets. You need to get spacers that are the same thickness as the gaps between tiles on the sheets so it all looks even. Don't use too much adhesive and don't press them on too hard or the adhesive squeezes up between all the tiles and it is hard to grout. Also if you press them down unevenly they are not going to look great as it is just string holding them together - they are not held rigidly. Perhaps use a flat bit of wood to pres them on to help avoid this.

we use them in new developments. fairly easy to work with as long as you use the right tools for cutting. we've been using the "waxmans" tiles - each one is approx 25mm x 25mm x 5mm thick. paying about £10/sheet +VAT for 320x320mm sheets.

make sure you get the lines straight!!
