6 month service - price/oil choice
Hi all
Just been quoted £130 minus 10% (£117) for SIDC membership for 6 month/7500 mile service. Oil to be used by dealer is Castrol Magnatec. I requested that they use a fully synthetic oil but was told that Subaru do not recommend one. I believe that Subaru are affiliated with Shell (?) and that Shell super helix (fully synthetic) would therefore be suitable, and not effect the warranty. I also believe that the viscosity of this meets the required specification. Subaru's technical department gave me the impression that the viscosity was far and above the most important factor.
I know this has been covered a million and one times, but IS shell fully synthetic OK to use and DOES it meet the correct viscosity level?
Any comments appreciated

I would check with your dealer - Subaru DO recommend an oil for the Impreza - Mobil 1 5W-40. This is specially formulated for Subaru and made available to the dealers (not available to the general public).
Have a look at Mike Tuckwood's post on this thread
