Boring insurance.....
Sorry if this is boring, and/or in the wrong section, but can anyone assist with a decent rate insurance broker ?
I`ve just ordered a new UK WRX today, and been told by the dealer that it`s a group 18.
However, when I search for insurance quotes on the net, I`m getting quoted £975 upwards. I`m 41 ffs, it must come in cheaper than this with someone.
( ps. I`m actually insured with Tesco at the moment on Civic Type R, group 17, for £475, but I was hoping that the Scooby wouldn`t be much dearer)

Maybe it`s because I`ve not had Tracker fitted. If this does become necessary, what system is recommended for a reasonable price, that will also placate the Insurance companies ?

www.privilege.com were very reasonable for me this year, adding only another 100 for the PPP. Also worth a try are Tesco, Direct Line, Norwich Union and Subaru's own Assured insurance.
03 WRX PPP, 35yo, 9+ yrs NCD, 0pts, Leeds postcode, driveway. Cat1 + Tracker = 678 quid
It might be worth listing your wife as a named driver, as women are seen as lower risk, so it may lower your premium even if she never drives it. It also gives you the chance to share points should you get caught

I think tesco will insist on a tracker. When i went with L&V they didn't ask for a tracker and presume they still don't. I'd have thought you should get it down to the sub £600 mark with them.
tesco insured me & G/F for £650 on 2001 Euro WRX
G/F got 12 years no claim discount & me as named driver but they say no tracker no insurance so if your thinking of keeping it for a while get 1 fitted could be the way to go

Been trawling through online quotes today, and finally found Privelege, who have come up with £430, but only with RAC Trackstar fitted. Still not a bad deal though.
Unfortunately, the Trackstar is £359, and then just over £100 subscription each year, but I suppose once it`s on, it`s on, and if you include the premium and the subscription together, it comes to around £550 a year, so I can`t complain. (One of the benefits of being an old git I suppose)

Sorted my insurance today, at last ! In the end, I decided not to get the Tracker fitted, as I didn`t really want it anyway, so I managed to get it insured with Prudential, with no tracker needed, for £690, reasonable or not ? Any thoughts people ?
