I'm just about to get back into bikes after a few years of cars and pick my new bike up on sunday. I've got some kit already but I'd like a new helmet and jacket at the minimum, maybe even boots and gloves!!

They say I can have a 10% discount on all clothes at the dealers where I bought my ZX6R (TAZ Motorcycles), but am wondering whether it will be worth waiting for the BMF show at Peterborough and buying everything there. I've looked on the internet and they're prices seem to match everyone else's give or take a few quid.

Its been a few years since I've been, but I understand you can get some really good deals at big bike shows like the BMF in May. Can anyone confirm this, I'll be gutted if I buy everything I need only to see it at massive discounts in a month or so's time!

Went last year and it was very good! I had just bought a pair of Dianese leather trousers, for £200 - at the fair I found a 2-piece leather suit, complete with CE armour in all the usual places, for £150 TOTAL.

Needless to say I took the unworn dianeses back. The thing I would say is that probably most of these bargains are seconds of some description (gear that is). On my jacket the left hand pocket zip was broken off but it still opens / closes. They had a really nice wolf suit for about £400 but at the time it was out of my range and I was riding a 125 on Ls.

Go on saturday if you do and worth taking cash if you are gonna buy a suit as some haggling may be possible. Obviously they have all the new stuff, helmets, gloves etc. It's a great atmosphere and you can sit on a load of new bikes and make like Valntino, lol.

Might go this year just for the ride.

Now thats what i wanted to hear, thanks. I've taken a closer look at my helmet and the visor has loads of tiny little cracks in. I guess its gone brittle with age or something? So I've decided to buy a new one now and save the rest of my buying till May at the show.

Should be a good day out if the weathers nice.
