I think the only wide arch kit is the 22b kit, not sure where you will get it like

yes there is, scoobyclinic can do it.

Not forgetting this one, must warn you, a big job to fit though

Any idea of the cost to do that to a four door ?

I looked into having this done but ordinarily you lose the use of the back doors. Think its a fairly big body job so also got put off about losing the car for a length of time.

HT, How can you put on your web site "N.B. All our products are subject to copywrite laws.Unlawful copying may lead to prosecution!" when YOU have copied the 22b style arches , even in your e-bay ad you admit to copying it , i don't think you have any copywrite's to the kit at all :D

DJ,subaru didnt make a 4 door 22b for a start, but aside from that there is no copyright in a model, only in the design documents which embody it. It is only an infringement of copyright to make something according to those design documents, if the item in the documents is an artistic work. Body panels for a car are not an artistic work, so you can copy make these to your hearts content from drawings.

If you are copying the actual panels, they are protected by another right called unregistered design right. Under UDR there are exclusions from protection due to the items having to fit or having to match, such as door body panels that fit into apertures on the body of a car. With this in mind car body panels cannot be protected.

Owners of design intellectual property cannot even file registered designs for body panels (these you have to pay and apply for and are normally to cover aesthetic creations), for the same reasons, ie. the exclusions of must fit and must match.

The law is this way in order to prevent car manufacturers among others from having a strangle hold on the entire spare parts market simply by selling someone a car in the first place.

So subaru don't have the rights to the body panels, but nor do HT.

Basically they put the stuff on the site as a global caveat because they aren't aware of their legal rights, and the legal rights available, and they haven't paid someone to tell them what they do and don't own.

Most people see the warning and assume it is valid, some wonder, such as you lot, how they can claim to have rights themselves which have blatantly ripped off the original designers of the 22B. (peter stevens I think) though if there were rights, they would belong to subaru.

The kit you see on ebay is for a 2 door but they also do a four door still using the doors. If the kit is fitted correctly and painted right think it looks quite good. because it looks similar to a 22b (and we all like them don't we) but also a bit different from the norm. Quite exspensive and not sure on the quality.

yeah they've sold a few, just got to wait for the feedback to see what they are like.
