I'm sure I read another thread previously about this problem. Basically I have a knocking noise on the rear N/S and seems worse when after a run when I guess the suspension etc is warm. Is this a common problem and what is the cause and fix so I can get the dealers to sort it.

Theres quite a few owners of 03 STis who have had this problem,me included.

Would have assumed it was fixed for the 04's...you sure it isn't the boot lid banging? as I think thats another common issue.

The problem is likely to be the suspension top mounts:mad:

My 03 has the same problem which is now getting sorted under warranty.

I was told it the dampening oil in shocks which has leaked. Therefore the shocks are too active without the dampening effect of the oil and are basically topping out, which is what the noise is.

Its a warranty job, just take it to the dealer they'll sort you out with two new units.

I've had this problem twice now on my 03 STi - first time had the nearside shockers replaced - last week had the offside shockers and spring replaced. I know its all under warranty, but a real pain and shouldn't be happening.
