Recently my alarm/imobiliser has not been up to scratch.When I approach the car I have to press the key fob 2 or 3 times before it will open. Also if I dont start the car within the set period and have to press the fob it does the same again .

I thought it might be the batteries in the fob so I changed them but still no joy .

I have heard stories about mobile phone masts but this happens near enough any where I go .

Phil, It will re-arm after something like 30 seconds if you dont start the car, thats normal, the time it takes to do this may be changable, check in the Sigma manual (if you have one).
My 01 picks up interference frequently, airport carpark, supermaket etc etc and I have to use the key pad to arm and disarm, I know its a common problem on the early WRX's and many were recalibrated (or whatever they do) by the dealers to another frequency, you could get that done if it bothers you.
