Default MY04 WRX Brake Upgrade

Can anyone please advise if just changing the brake hoses to braided ones together with uprated (fast road) pads are enough to stop fade for fast road use in mountainous regions or is it necessary to change callipers/discs as well?

Thanks

Just changing to braided (stainless steel) hoses and decent fast road pads will certainly improve braking and go a long way to reducing fade.

Works fine on my 03WRXPPP. Add some DOT5.1 fluid too

EBC Red Ceramic E388 from £60-100

Goodridge S/S hoses from £45 to £70 (more expensive ones have a tough nylon (?) sheath protecting the braiding)

Ferodo DOT 5.1 £10 per 0.5l

Re-reading your 1st post I'd say try what's been suggested and if there is still some improvement required consider some uprated discs (again EBC are cost effective). If you need to go beyond that, then you're gonna have to spend more serious money. Godspeeds start at around £600 IIRC, Brembo's £1000+ and AP £1400+

Not as expensive as I'd thought so looks the best cost vs performance option. Many thanks for the info.

A good DOT 4 fluid is best for road use AFAIK.
DOT 5.1 loses it's effectiveness over time & is best suited to track use & frequent fluid changes.

think your slightly mistaken.....................dot5.1 was specifcally aimed at certain ABS systems to prevent moisture build up and although some have a good temp. ability most are definately not competition fluids...............
