View Full Version : Anyone with 9 points ? What insurance if so ?
Civic Type R 06 January 2005, 23:15 Hi guys,
Despite my forum name I have just bought an 02 WRX today. Insuring it is becoming a pain in the ass :-
Aberdeen post code + Elephant + 28 yrs old + = 6yrs NCB gave
£686 with no points
£761 with 3
£782 with 6 points
£1439 with 9 points ( jesus - for another 3 points it's doubled :()
Has anyone got any ideas for points friendly co's - I tied L&V's online site but it said they couldn't give me a quote. Will maybe phone them to find out why.
Thanks for any help ! My current quote for the CTR is about £600 ( grp 17)

Yes I would definitely try LV as they don't charge extra for points. Also I would suggest you try quotelinedirect.co.uk and motorquotedirect.co.uk as they specialize in all drivers with points and have just given by daughter who has 9 points some stonking prices on her small car.

Civic Type R 06 January 2005, 23:47 Just tried the one you suggested :- £1515 through norwich insurance :(
Can anyone else help ?
Civic Type R 07 January 2005, 00:06 Meant to add that all my points are standard 3 x SP30's
kart_man 07 January 2005, 10:30 Bell Direct have always been good to me, but I've no idea what difference points would make. (I'm clean at the mo).

StiX 07 January 2005, 11:03 Defo try L&V, as when I insured myself with them last April, they weren't interested in what mods so long as no increase in engine size, or points so long as no ban.
Apparently now they will not take on any new policies with mods, but perhaps their points policy is still the same.
talizman 07 January 2005, 11:53 AFAIK, L&V still won't quote on under 30's.... or is that only for JDM models?
When do your oldest points drop off Cal?
The thing is, with 3 points or even 6 points, you could just have been "unlucky" a couple of times, but to continue racking them up when you are skating close to a ban, is looked upon by the insurance companies as a bit reckless, hence the massive hike!...
I doubt any insurer will beat Elephant's quote, I'd take it mate.

mikeesingh 07 January 2005, 12:08 im with footman james (0121 561 4196) 2 years ago when i had 13 points i was paying just under 1600 (3 years ncb, 25 years old), last year when i had 7 points left my insurance was around 1250 (4 years ncb, 26 years old) this was for a traders policy(single vehicle limit of 15k, total cover 40k), but they do normal cover as well.

How do you have 13 points and still be driving?
Gutmann pug 07 January 2005, 13:10 you must be over 30 for liv vic
Civic Type R 07 January 2005, 14:39 After much scratching around I've had a quote from Privilege for £1043 which seem good to me though
I'll have a high excess. I'll need to fit a bloomin' tracker though as until I do so they won't insure me for anything
theft related but I'm obviously covered for accidents etc.
Think I'll go with the tracker retrieve system which has a poor record but at least it's cheap and will satify the
underwriters ( Direct Line).
Appreciate all the help guys !
Thanks

what?! 18 January 2005, 14:00 Most folk tend to sell their Imprezas when they hit the dreaded 9 points, not buy one!!!!!
How long do you think you'll have your licence with your new aquisition? lol
Not long me-thinks! ;)
