Does this seem right. Add a set of Pro Drive springs to my car and the premium goes up £147 + the excess goes up from £300 to £400. ???

All depends on what insurance company your with, I would start shopping around at renewal for a more "mod" friendly company.

When does a replacement part get to be called a modification?

I would have thought that replacement springs should not be an issue, especially if they are better quality than the original.

Also if you were to buy a second hand Subaru, how do you know if it’s been repaired or modified by the previous owner?

Just a thought
