Maybe they only come out Sat/Sun for the overtime:D tronlc 20 September 2004, 01:16 They are total W*&*£rs and are just after the £, you only have to look at where they are..... Jammers work well ;) scrappydoo 20 September 2004, 01:48 ... Josh L 20 September 2004, 08:28 Quite frankly, this was my first visit to Rally GB, and I thought they were a joke. Not only did I consider the Police's 'we don't want your money' ads to be an insult, but IMHO their presence was at times dangerous and counter-productive. Even the locals periodically paniced and braked. I lost count of the times people in front braked on clear open roads, despite being well within the speed limits. I'm sure they'd argue that it was making people more aware of their speed, but it's human nature to panic brake first and look at the speedo second, even if you're not speeding, and there's nothing safe about people braking at random. Even the locals despise the way the Police handle things. A couple I spoke to said that with the exception of the odd accident or crime, they don't see a cop from one month to the next, yet during the rally they can't move for them. Regardless of the motives, I think it's safe to say, based on my experience, that it hasn't improved the safety or standards of driving. Other than the Speed Nazis though, we had a fab time. I may even consider paying for some tickets next year ;) Thanks Simon/SN :D cosworth lover 20 September 2004, 14:52 i live in barry by cardiff airport yesterday on my way back from felindre between j38-33 i saw 2 mobile cameras then on the link road to the bay there was another oneout of all 3 only 1 is there on a regular basis n that is near j35 on the m4 i also heard on tv on thursday that they borrowed 15 xtra cameras just for the weekend i also noticed a couple of people waving at 1 mobile unit as well DBY 20 September 2004, 15:19 Over the top as always, good way to earn a few quid yet again from the poor punters!! 555 Markus 20 September 2004, 16:13 I even saw two on the Thursday afternoon around the A470. Saw one on a bridge on the M4, and another clocking traffic back from Brechfa on the A48. Thanks to all the motorists that flashed me as I was coming away from Rheola on the Fri evening. Must have been about a dozen cars that bothered to alert me, so I crawled down the hill towards the A465, and sure enough there was the van parked on the other side of the road hoping to catch people speeding doing more than 30mph on the downward section into Glyn-Neath(?). carter x 20 September 2004, 17:20 well over the top as always, kept crawling past them giving them the bird ! towerhurst 20 September 2004, 19:52 What is everyones opinion on speed cameras in Wales?i only saw one moblie unit but managed to get pulled by the old bill at 4.45am in bath on the way to rally  i am tez 21 September 2004, 19:32 i think if you take anybody with you next year, get them to flash there arse outta the window or sunroof!!!! Tez AylesMadDuck 21 September 2004, 23:03 I thought they were surpose to be at blackspots but the road angel i used wasn't confirming it. Also nearly got involved in a pile up due to sudden braking on the M4 ( speed trap on bridge ) terry300577 22 September 2004, 09:43 I saw loads they seemed to be waiting between each stage fri/sat/sun. I shot past one doing 40mph on way to walters arena saturday. Looked like he was positioned for cars coming down the hill (can they get traffic both ways). No ticket as yet, fingers crossed. So after that scare tried to stay to the speed limit as close as possible, but dont the welsh have an annoying habbit of change speed limits along one road quite often, i mean on one of teh roads i was on it went from 60 to 30 to 20 to 40 and back to 60 half the time i didnt know what the speed limit was supposed to be lol :) - thats my excuse anyway and just to rub it in the police were showing off there mobile camera unit at the service centre :( |
