Looks like a decent price, but whats the catch?

Hanslow 15 September 2004, 17:20 The catch is I'm going to have to tell the missus that it was you that has pointed this out to me so you will be getting a good telling off ;)
Other than that, I can't see any catches. I'm still waiting to see what's announced at Photokina though.
[heads off to count any loose change lying around the house]
:D

20d for £1020 including VAT and delivery
Hanslow 15 September 2004, 17:37 Keep going :) By the time I get home I'm hoping you've found somewhere that does it for £3.50 :D

20d for £1020 including VAT and delivery
Body only though.
m@thew 15 September 2004, 18:15 the lens included with the 20d from bestcameras is the same one sold with the 300d (about £50 more for 300d with that lens than body only) I may be wrong but id be wanting more than a £50 lens on the front of my 1k camera
Diablo 16 September 2004, 07:48 Fair point.
I'm looking for a body only and the base lens cost is more than £50.
Either way, it looks like a cracking deal :)

20d for £1020 including VAT and delivery
Yes - I wouldn't expect them to actually HAVE any in stock though... ;)
£20 says the price goes up when they actually get one. :)
Geezer 20 September 2004, 09:57 Canon 20D for the price of a D70. OK, it's in Canada, but you may get lucky and avoid the VAT! Carmans Foto Source (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=30020&item=3839894980&rd=1)
Geezer
Mr Scoob 23 September 2004, 22:28 I bought mine on Tuesday, not such a good price as those mentioned above though. Seems like a great piece of kit, can't wait to try it out. Here it is... 20D (http://mr-scoob.photos.me.uk/c293638.html)
AndyC_772 24 September 2004, 09:01 Dude, you're meant to take pictures WITH the camera, not OF the camera :)
Have fun with it and let us know how you get on :D
Geezer 24 September 2004, 09:17 Looking at that picture of the behind of the camera, it looks like you would need to use the menus/LCD to change quite a few settings. Is this the case?
Geezer
Mr Scoob 24 September 2004, 20:24 AndyC - Thanks for that advice I knew I was doing something wrong!
Geezer - There are plenty of settings that can be changed but you don't need to. Most of my photography is motorsport so I will probably just put it on shutter priority 1/125 sec and click away. The other features will have to wait until the English version of the manual arrives. I bought it in Holland so only have the Dutch manual at the moment.
pslewis 24 September 2004, 21:58 Wouldn't a secondhand 10D make a better bet? at about £450 Body Only?
Pete
£965 for EOS20D here:- http://www.nomatica.com
The Nikon D70 is going to HAVE to fall in price now - just like the D70 caused the EOS300D prices to drop through the floor!
Danny B 24 September 2004, 22:06 Just ordered my new camera from the States http://www.adorama.com/ICA20DK1.html £1,100 with a EF-S 17-85mm f4/5.6 USM Image Stabilized Lens, should be here in a few weeks.
No import duty but *possibly* VAT, I have told the guys to mark it as a gift...
Still a good saving even if I get caught with the VAT, £1650 over here.
Danny B 02 October 2004, 17:43 Just a quick update, camera got delivered on Friday and I did not get stung for VAT as it was sent via "normal" US mail not by courier.
Camera & 17-85mm lens (part of the kit) is superb, been out experimenting most of the day, will try and get some pics up later.
The charger is 100v-250v so no probelm there either.
Continuous shooting is superb, so much quicker than the 300D.
Anyway I'm just popping into town for some night shots of Picadilly if the traffic isn't to sh1t.
