Does anybody seem to know why none of the top teams opted to give our col a drive this year as a 3rd driver??? Surely with the mad man entered it would have given us brits sombody to cheer for with the absence of burnsie aswell.. Subaru seem to forget what he done for them :cuckoo: and also Ford when he helped to bring the focus on (along with sainz of course). And Citroen could have gave him a farewell drive for all that farcical rule change at the end of last season!! Madness a rallying sporting hero spectating?? all because there was no money for a sponsor. Like i said... How quickly people forget who they once relied on!

the new rules state that the 3rd driver could not have been on the podium the previous year (to alow new drivers to get there foot in the door)
and the rules were set thet late in the year (2003) that there was no time to sort out any deals (D.R. was in talks with colin for weeks trying to give him a deal but it couldnt be done)

after wrgb last year when they started taking about costs etc the teams said because of the rules they would not run a third car on all events
because itwas not eligible for manufacturers points only drivers points

The only reason McRae hasn't got a drive is because he wouldn't swallow his pride and put some money in himself..
To be honest...very honest...He is crap now...
Focus development...he developed some nice dents in it....Ones that particularly hurt were the ones obtained in Rhondda when all he had to do was cruise round for the world championship...
He would be crap in a 03/04 focus, as it was designed for the new breed of driver... so Colin...Go Matthew Wilson...He's Cumbrian...nearly Scottish for you!!
Its your scottishness talking mate....get over it... Colins big head needs to loose some weight before he gets another drive!..

ok fair point he may be big headed it happens to alot of top end drivers not only in rallying.. but watchin him at the wheel he just made the car sing and dance like no other driver granted not always the fastest way but fukin awesome to watch.. i hope him well in whatever he does next, i for one miss his flamboyance thru the stages as im sure many thousands more do and for the record i aint scottish!!!:)

Willie,
Sorry it was the name that threw me!! Borah Dah
M-Sport Management have to say they have respect for him....they wouldn't/can't say anything else !! Think about it..
John Steele was it???
M-Sport employees have a different view on Colin...I know...
Malcolm Wilson's main raison d'etre is to win the WRC for Ford, and he was closest with colin in 2001, as the Focus was the strongest WRC car and was and still is bulletproof (and 2002 car) but they don't fly too well!
Can you imagine how that feels...going into the last event, in the bag (as close as possible) then that muppet turns into a gulley....NICE
Toyota and Carlos had a Rally GB moment..at least it was the car though!
Colin was good in his day, in the days before sattelite traction control (yes!)...He needs to retire alongside his Mk2 Escort (Which he is very good in)
Would be interesting to stick Petter or Markko in one to see how they compare (not very well I imagine)
Come on guys...move on...we have new british drivers...

As for the comment on age...
Succesful WRC drivers are getting younger all the time... It is only a matter before the age comes down for rally winners
ref: Francois Duval and Seb
The hardware is quite important too, and Matthew is already in a 2002 Focus...If he has a good drive on Rally GB, I bet he is in an 03/04 (Same!) Focus... Is dad is well connected
