No-bars Krud 12 September 2004, 19:23 What a great day - chilling in the square. Also different atmosphere in the high street. Both different - both great. Well done to ALL those involved in the organisation - esp Big Vern who kept his humour up every time i saw him. Saw lots of old friends, also all drivers I saw were well behaved. Great advert for the Scooby community I thought.
Only down side - my daughter said there were not enough "young studs" around for her liking! Don't know if that is normally the case in Alton.
mart360 12 September 2004, 19:51 wahayy piccy of me in there!!!!!

Nevetas 13 September 2004, 09:54 Good day :D :D
Jo Peters 13 September 2004, 14:49 Yes, it was a fab day today. Quote of the day has to go to the officer from the Hampshire Constabulary who stopped in his bmw estate patrol car and asked Simon at the car park closure point "have you seen a blue Subaru" which had apparently been travelling rather "fast" towards Alton in the morning!!!! After he asked how many people would be in attendance and being told around 150, he replied "well I'm not likely to find him then am I" and promptly drove off!!!
Well done to Vern and all - here's to next year???
Jo
black_cat17 13 September 2004, 15:24 It was an excellent turn out and all in all an excellent day. We stayed over on Saturday night and made a real weekend of it.
I met a fellow Catalunya owner (no. 51) and were chatting for ages and didn't think to ask what his name on here was, so if you are here - hi

Soulgirl 13 September 2004, 23:04 (IN MY OPINION)... before you decide that my words mean anything but.....
We arrived just at 9am and luckily enough were in time to be able to park in the main Town Square. I pitched my scooby outside the Town Hall and unloaded the urchins from the back.
Immediately we spotted a man polishing his car. Admittedly I had run my car through the car wash the previous day and quickly polished the front and back - probably because I hadn't done it for about 2 months. I drive my car, it's not a work of art
My Husband decided to ride his bike to take full advantage of the beautiful weather... well, it was when we started out!
Making our way to the Pizza Express we were able to command an outside table. This afforded a great view for people watching - I love people watching. Sipping scalding hot cappuccinos and smoking menthols. I was in my element.
The Square started to fill nicely - there were reported to be 150 cars at any one time through out the day.
We enjoyed a fabulous Italian meal at the Pizza Express with a complimentary bottle of wine.
Said a few hellos to fellow ScoobyNet members and finally disembarked from the event around 1.30pm. I must say this though. To have the piss taken out of me for my lone Soulgirl glittery sticker on my rear window is a travesty of justice. One particular offender even had his own name on the side window of his car anyway so pot kettle black springs to mind.... Some of the cars, and their contents were unjustifiably stupid... actually, just plain wrong! Middle aged men with a cargo of stuffed ScoobyDoo toys! What's that all about?
There was also an air of cliqueness (is that a real word?) - small gatherings of owners talking upgrades and enhancements. Cars displaying neatly typed, encapsulated lists of mods and stick on numberplate's displaying website addresses.
It came across as a bit anal for me. Not sure I will attend such an event again as there seemed to be no intention of people just saying hi.
Oh well, must be the girl in me.

We discussed at length the small numberplates.. your of which was one although not the smallest... what is the law in respect of the smaller plates?
