HI EVERY ONE, IT IS WITH GREAT SADNESS THAT MY MATE AND MYSELF ARE NOT ATTENDING THE RALLY THIS YEAR. I HOPE THAT ALL YOU RALLY VIRGINS HAVE A GREAT TIME AS I AM SURE YOU WILL, HOWEVER PEOPLE LIKE US WHO HAVE BEEN GOING FOR MANY YEARS NOW WILL NOT BE GOING DUE TO SO MANY RESTRICTIONS.
THE YEAR BEFORE LAST WE WERE VERY DISSAPOINTED AS WERE RESTRICTED TO WHICH CAR PARKS AND STAGES WE COULD GO TO, BUT LAST YEAR WITH THE WORLD RALLY PASS IT ALL GOT BACK ON TRACK AND WE ENDED UP HAVING A FANTASTIC TIME. NOW THIS YEAR I KNOW WE WILL NOT ENJOY THE RESTRICTIONS (WHICH ARE WORSE THAN EVER), HENCE NOT ATTENDING. I DON'T MIND PAYING THE EXTRA MONEY IF IT MEANS YOU CAN BE FREE LIKE LAST YEAR to go to which stage you want to.
I AM SURE MANY PEOPLE HAVE WRITTEN ABOUT THIS SUBJECT BEFORE AND AM SURE IT'S NOT JUST US WHO FEEL LIKE THIS,
AM I JUST GETTING OLD AT THE GRAND AGE OF 33 OR DOES ANY ELSE AGREE?
COMMENTS WELCOME
I HOPE IF YOU DO YOU HAVE A GREAT TIME

But freelander, with a little planning beforehand you can go to basically anywhere you want to for not much more than the cost of the WRP by buying day passes and stage passes...

It always disapoints me when so called "Old Timers" say they're not coming because of all the changes.... Surely if you were that keen on the sport there is a better way of seeing the rally, which is virtually cost free..... become a marshal. You obviously have the experience to be able to do it as you've been so many times before, and you'd probably make better marshals then all of us "little Hitlers" who only do it for the power trip!! :D

Ouch! pull that Knife out.
But you dont see the Rally, there 5hrs before, still there until last car. Thats no fun. But dont you have to be a club member, going to weekly meets etc and be part of the privelaged circle throwing scorn on the lowlife you call the spectator.
Its like a marriage, you need speckies and speckies need marshalls. But without speccies there would be no WRC for the manufactures to target there Brand Too.
Oh Dear is that why we have no large major motor factors left, whom veiw the WRC a marketing excercise, because the Vetarans are the only one who can afford new Brand Products from them, But we are the ones whom are alienanated from the present rallie- or is it just a dying sport at top level.

I am in no way criticising the marshalls or the work, as every time we have been have had quite a laugh with the marshalls.
The point I was trying to get across is that some times we would turn up for a stage to either find a mile walk to the stage or when we get to the stage no decent viewing points, to that we would say no problem lets go to the next carpark and see the rally from there. Both my friend and I would have even paid for 2 event passes each if they had been different enough, but the difference between the 2 choices were so minamel that we would have not been better off.
Yes we could have purchased each day passes, but you were still restricted into which stages you could see and which car parks you could park in.
I forsee a lot of people been dissapointed this year with thousands of people being forced into the same viewing areas whether you are on event pass 1 or 2.
