Their number is 0870 606 4750 and when the phone isn't engaged or finally get's picked up, they will sent you an application pack. Thanks for your help guys Andy orbv 25 August 2004, 14:00 Had a meter moved a few months ago. I phoned my gas supplier who put me in contact with Fulcrum Connections, a subsidiary of Transco. After filling in the forms they moved the meter 10 foot and installed it in a new box outside for around 300 quid. isacs 25 August 2004, 15:16 I'm not even going to ask.... but I guess it's no smoking outside your house!!! :o Oh no I work for BG so had a couple of contacts;) Andy Tang 25 August 2004, 16:47 Oh no I work for BG so had a couple of contacts;) Local enough to SW London, for you and your contacts to make a few bob??? ;) john_s 25 August 2004, 18:59 Find the local Transco depot, and pop into the yard and make a few enquiries if anyone is up for a foreigner. He's ex Transco so has done it before but you wouldn't believe the amount of certification required! Reading area you say??? I need an old gas fire removing and the pipe capping off. He doesnt want any practice jobs does he? DJFish 26 August 2004, 16:22 He's not Corgi registered yet mate, but that's the sort of stuff he'll be able to do once he is. Nexuas 26 August 2004, 17:00 He's not Corgi registered yet mate, but that's the sort of stuff he'll be able to do once he is. If you've ever seen the reults of a bodged external gas installation as I have you'd get a qualified engineer to do it for you. Chip. isacs 28 August 2004, 18:26 A lot of silly useless advice has been given here. If you've ever seen the reults of a bodged external gas installation as I have you'd get a qualified engineer to do it for you. Chip. What??? Nothing silly about using someone you know who works for transco and does it as a day job. Murphy have the contract for renewing gas supply pipe and have to reconnect to meters. Just differnet avenues to be explored for a 1/4 of the the cost. Chip 28 August 2004, 20:50 Isacs, It is illegal and stupid. Believe me. Murphy's may be contracted to Fulcrum in your area but it doesnt alter the fact that it is illegal and more often than not the ppl who do these fiddles are NOT qualified. Chip. Chip 28 August 2004, 20:52 He's not Corgi registered yet mate, but that's the sort of stuff he'll be able to do once he is. Depends. If its internal pipework then yes he can. If it's the externa into the meter then he cant. Chip. DJFish 29 August 2004, 19:02 Depends. If its internal pipework then yes he can. If it's the externa into the meter then he cant. Chip. He's doing a CORGI course specifically designed for contractors to move meters and outside pipework. Transco will soon be farming most of this work out to contractors as it's costing them too much, apparently. Don't worry mate, he used to work for Transco doing the same job he's re-certificating for so he knows what he's about. Dave |
