I see on the website that it states that parking for the shakedown is at Velindre. Do they propose to use shuttle buses to take people to the stage?

I thinks thats what was proposed last year, until they moved the shakedown over to rheola.

Further information (taken from www.walesrallygb.com)

Access to Shakedown will be via the Swansea Rally Centre at Felindre where a park and ride service will operate to the Shakedown stage, which takes place between 9am and 1pm on Thursday 16th September.

Buses will leave the Swansea Rally Centre at Felindre for the Shakedown stage at the following times (the journey will take approximately 10 minutes):

Cheers Paul. Is there any parking at the stage or is it purely access by bus.

All parking is at the Rally Centre at Felindre

Why is that Paul. If tickets are limited then surely there is enough parking space in the stage area. Never been a problem before.

The shakedown stage this year is, I believe, in Penllergaer Woods, (Paul?) which is about 2 miles west of the Rally Centre at Felindre, either North or South of the M4 at J47 (there are two woods). Ideal for competitors and spectators as it is basically next door to Felindre.

As far as I am aware this area has never been used for shakedown before and is not the usual "forest-in-the-valleys" type stage.

Living not too far from there I can tell you that there is no parking to speak of. You could try parking in a few places but to be honest you would save yourself 10 minutes of a one-hour walk and your wheels will probably be towed away. If buses are available, the journey only takes 10 minutes and they're free, my advice would be to park and ride......

As PHD has alluded to the Shakedown doesnt have any parking of its own due to its location. There will be a number of police roadblocks in operation around the venue at a couple of miles distance so the only practical way to get there is via the park and ride - this has been laid on to minimise the disruption to local residents and to give maximum benefit to pass holders.

Tez - the Shakedown can only be accessed using the Thursday day pass and not the event pass - there isnt enough capacity at the venue for all the event pass holders to attend.

hang on nuggs for start i,ve attendend the rally since the late eighties and yes it aint the same as it used to be but in some ways its better other ways its worse, but back to the original point on many of the foreign rallys many many stages are free and those that do charge i.e finland the prices are sensible, unlike rip off britain i consider that the shake down is not part of the event it counts for nothing i,ve got the 4 day pass as always and as far as i,m concerned it should be free for whoever wants to attend obviously numbers would have to accounted for but i do think it should be free!!!!!!!!!

Fair enough 123pod you've a valid point there, but some are here to just moan and whinge. But RallyMarshal has already explained in another thread why the shakedown is only available to to thursday pass holders.

IMHO the shakedown is one of the better stages to view as you get to see the drivers pass more than once or twice, its just unfortunate due to the nature of it, it's limited tothe number of spectators that have access.

Have to agree with you there, the event is being outpriced! The salaray's for the South West Wales aern't massive! If a family of 4 or 5 were to go it would cost them a fortune! As you say Shakedown does not have any influence on the rally Proper and should be free entry for people who don't really want to shell out a great deal of money!!
