I am looking to buy a digital camera for around £200, and was just wondering if you can point me in the direction regarding make and models?
I am contemplating a Sony if possible, due to brand name and reputation, and I do not need anything too sophisticated, just a good all rounder to be honest.
Is 3 million pixels enough?
Are there any issues with Sony, or are there better brands for the money?
Any advice appreciated.
Cheers

Look at Canon A70/A75/A80/A85....
All around £150-200 mark, the A70/75 are 3MP, A80/85 are 4MP.
A80 certainly always gets a good write up, but going out of production, so get one while you can!
Sony are fine, but MemoryStick media are generally more expensive than CF etc.
As people often say, best to stick with a manufacturer who makes cameras as their primary business :D

My brother got a sony for xmas.
Its a really good camera, cant remember what the model is but can find out for you if you want.
His gf got it from amazon and i know it was less than £200.
There are loads of cool features on it, and the camcorder part of it is brill.
I have a kodak one and to be honest it isnt all that, seems to use batteries like there's no tomorrow so have only used it a couple of times, actually find it better to use my old 35mm!

Bought the Canon Ixus 500 a few months ago and love it. Cost me £290 but has come down a little although the 430 (4.3mega pixel) is slightly cheaper. Quite small but has a nice weighty feel to it without it being pocket bursting. Superb design, controls are p!ss easy and menu system is a doddle.
Highly recommended - although get yourself a bigger flash card - the 32mb included only fits about 9 pics on if taking them at max resolution.

I bought one of these..
http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0001XIZSK/ref=br_ce_ts_2//202-7885253-1407010
Lots of fetures for not much money...
Detailed imaging with a 3.2 MegaPixel CCD
Unlimited recording time in Movie mode as an AVI file 30 fps
Convenient USB connection to your computer
Three metering options: Multi-segment, Centre weighted, Spot
Ultra lightweight - Weighs only 6.3 ounces
3x optical zoom lens
Swivelling LCD viewfinder 180º horizontally, 270º vertically
Optical viewfinder
Virtual mode dial
I took the photos in the Wasp thread with it (et to 800 x 600). I use the second largests pic size normally which gives great results
