View Full Version : I resign
Dougster 15 July 2004, 14:48 Had enough of the heart ache and whinging.
To the lads I spoke to in MSN last night, it looks like a no win situation and I can't stand back and be part of it.
Cheerio
wrxmania 15 July 2004, 14:55 Sorry to hear that Dougs,
I can appreciate where you are coming from - Scoobynet is not real life and I believe some flexibility should be shown to the Scotland section as it is very different.
Non-local moderators should take a step back and allow it to be moderated MODERATELY by those who should have a bit more leeway, with an understanding for the local situation.
We should not be losing people who give up their time freely because they are not allowed to get on with their job in a sensible manner.
Sorry to see you go Dougs and I hope it gets sorted before moe people go.
Brian.
RS Grant 15 July 2004, 14:58 Sorry to hear that mate..
As you said in the other thread, its a BBS, NOT life or death....... Think that peeps need to chill out and accept that different bits of the board require different methods of moderating.
Cheers,
Grant

Please read this regarding Scotland Forum (http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/showpost.php?p=3527956&postcount=7)
wrxmania 15 July 2004, 15:09 Yes I have read it many times - as it has been shoved in our face - and as this is a BBS I am entitled to my opinion
AND a paid up plus member I may add.
:(
Dougster 15 July 2004, 15:13 Exactly.
Richard Askew 15 July 2004, 15:38 Shame Doug :(
coulty 15 July 2004, 15:40 I have to agree with wrxmania and dougster here, the Scotland section is not like any other section as more happens in it. People also want to keep things local sometimes and the rules obviously dont allow such flexibility.
As wrxmania says i also am a paying member who can say what I think would be better.
Stuart :)
evojkp 15 July 2004, 16:32 Dougster, I've never known you to walk away from anything mate, but sometimes that hassle is not worth it, as you say.
BTW their looking for mods on the MLR.....;) You may be headhunted now.....oooh what a thought :p :D
...John
kart_man 15 July 2004, 16:57 :(
Oh, my god!, the jocks are at it again, causing bother, they've gone and broken a rule!.
Well we've been breaking them for the last 700 years, and I'm fecking sure some scooby dooby
forum sergeant isn't gonna stop us now, so go back and tell the the board boys that the sons and daughter of Scotland are yours no more!!! (Willy Wallace).
:hjtwofing
defo on dougsters side here!!!
scoobynet is no longer the happy, do as you want, say what you want place it used to be. the way i see it, money is the key. no matter what the "owners" say, they, in my eye's, don't do the work the moderators do and don't take the slack the moderators do. i ain't stickin up for all of the mods tho, as some of them are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much into, "being a mod", but i'll stick up for the ones that can honestly show and speak their emotions. the mods don't get the respect they deserve, but i give more respect to doug, than any of the rest of them. he's done me favours in the past and more besides;)(cheers doug). i can only see this as being a start of a revolution in scoobynet land.....although, no-one seem's to care much for the scottish section, so therefore it won't be heard as much as it could/should if it were in for example northern section. thing is, in other peeps eyes, we're are small people with large voices. let us speak!!!

Fecking French foreign legion. Eh is that how you spell foreign?
It is a bit petty TBH. Its not going to breach national security or ut.

TWO TWO TWO TWO TWO TWO. What the feck.
sad and idiotic state of affairs on Scoobynets part.
Shame to see you go.
Coulster 15 July 2004, 18:27 This is bad news mate.
Clealry as a result of The Dougsters relluctant resignation, the reasons behind this must be addressed by the powers that BE.
Wisen up guys, what will it take for these continuous silly actions that are causing the upset in the Scottish Forums to be eliminated?
I would suggest a statement stating your clear view on the subject and whether or not you intend to act upon the suggestions in the scottish forum or are these to be brushed aside?
Once we now where you (the mods) stand with us then we can act upon your decision.
All we ask for is compromise.
Spooks 15 July 2004, 18:47 Really sad that it has come to this, Dougs the Mod no more :(
Nothing I can add that hasnt been said already really.
Scoobynet's loss, Dougs is well respected and his resignation speaks volumes as to the state of affairs in the SN "world". Not being offensive to SN but wake up and smell the Java, there is a big bright world out there and FAR more important thing to worry about apart from making the Scottish section the brunt of there short sighted rules and regulations , but let others slide on by.
Scott aka Spooks
Me thinks spooks took the words out of our mouths.
Sorry to hear this Dougster:(
James
:(
sti-spec-a 15 July 2004, 19:22 BBBBBBBBBBBBBBOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Carl Davey 15 July 2004, 19:27 Shut the door on yer way oot. :p :D JK
In all seriousness Doug i sympathise. Having been on a similar bend before as a mod on another forum i understand your situation. Good on you for standing up for your beliefs and i hope that the matter can be resolved amicably (sp?).
In all honesty i don't see the problem with linking to threads in For Sale/Was It You but would prefer to be able to post in here in safety IYKWIM? I don't know what other threads have been moved that may have caused concern? (bit out of touch)
Not a stranded thread surely? :(
Markus 15 July 2004, 19:51 Dougster,
Sorry you feel you have to resign over this, and I wish to apologize if my thread/comments have added to any additional reasons for this.
Dougster 15 July 2004, 19:55 After discussion with Shaun, Neil Smalley and the support offered by good friends in the community I have re-thought my desicion.
You can't get rid of me that easily!! ;)
coulty 15 July 2004, 19:57 You can't get rid of me that easily!! ;)Awww christ!! Thought you would have gone by now! ;)
Good on you...heres to many years of Dougster being a mod :thumb:
He's always attention-seeking ;)
Pyrocam999 15 July 2004, 20:04 And here was me thinking that you were quitting to give yourself a little more time to top up your tan!!! :Whatever_
more come backs than Frank Sinatra...;)
LOL
Welcome back, we all missed you!
James
Good to see you changed your mind Doug :) It actually looks like you are doing some good.
I know it can really get to you sometimes, it's gotten to me in the past, but stick there.
Stuart
sti-spec-a 15 July 2004, 20:08 WWWWWWAAAAAAHHHHHOOOOOOOOO

Dougster 15 July 2004, 20:15 Thanks lads. :D
Gosh, I was coming over all patriotic too, Need to tear up that application form now!:)
Chris
Trucker Ted 15 July 2004, 20:31 Totally agree with Scott's post earlier, the dudes from down south have got to realise if someone up here in Scotchland is selling something then theres a 99.9% chance that one of us locals will buy the item and with this being a wee country and all that, we will go a little blast in the scoob, meet up with them and do the transaction.i.e no need for fannying aboot wae postage or wondering if you have been scammed.
Glad to see your staying mate.........Power to the Dougster:):)
see ye all soon...John!
