I've heard that this section of SN is different from the other parts, so, being as curious as a very curious cat, I thought I would pop in, say "Hi" and have a look around and see what is so special and different.

Oh, and I know this is probably *very* childish, so I expect the thread to be locked/deleted/moved, but I have absolutley no problem with this at all, and will totally understand the reasoning behind this, and I won't throw my toys out of my pram or get all upset about it. :D

This section does run differently to the other 'local' events sections. The three main English event sections have the population to fill these sections with threads of meets, run-outs and other similar events. The Welsh and Ireland sections are far quieter than Scottish.

This doesn't mean that the Scottish Snetters are insular or parochial, with most users frequenting other areas of the bbs.
The thread topics in this section are very broad and I myself have no problem with local sales, local help requests, pics. of cars/meets and 'was it you' posts. I have spoken to other Scottish moderators who feel the same and this subject has been discussed previously with senior moderators.

I do understand why we have guidelines and if any posts or threads overstep these I will moderate accordingly.

This response echoes the feelings of many other Scottish Snetters and as their Moderator many have come to me and said they would support more acceptable and suitable moderation which would create a happier atmosphere within this section.

If the Administrators and other Moderators want to play exactly by the book then that's fine, but remember it's a bbs, not life and death.

Just look at the number of people viewing the Scotland forum compared to the other regional forums. Ok, I'm sure sometimes the others are higher, but in general Scotland seems to top the league.

Moderation in moderation is what we need !

I simply wanted a bit of clarification on the comments that Stephen had made on this thread that have been moved to 'policy', as I was not aware that any particular forum was more 'special' as it were than others, this, thanks to your post has cleared things up, and now I can see a little more why Stephen might have been narked off by the move.

You seem to have some idea in your head that agrees with most other non Scottish moderators on this BBS.

You believe rules are rules and everyone should stick by them. Its obvious that the views held are move! move! move! and feck the bbs users wishes and the practicality and effect on moving the thread.

These views have clearly annoyed the vast majority of Scottish users who, im in no doubt share my view that if this action continues and our requests, views, points, call them whatever you like are not listened to and acted upon in the interest of the scottish contingent will result in scottish users going to another bbs where our needs are catered for and respected.

The suggestion of a General Scotland For Sale/Wanted section has to be feesable....please explain why this is not possible?
If people are needing a hand to do something or require a part fast etc then it does NOT make sense to post in a general wanted section who very few bbs users look at.

Markus I think you would make a great moderator as you have the same uncompromising attitude as the majority of the non Scottish moderators.

We only ask for some give and take but this does not happen!

Can someone explain to me WHY there needs to be separate Scottish general and for sale forums? Why can't you simply use the existing formus that the rest of the community seem happy enough to use?

Why should there be special provisions made for ANY region? that's what I don't get.

Maybe I should ask for a separate Canadian general and for sale section? I'm sure Jerome and I would be more than happy with that :D

The arguments of not using the existing forums because "not many users look at them" are, frankly, rather silly.

Seems that my little thread here has struck a nerve, and it wasn't really intended to, I was simply curious as to why one part of the community feels it should have different rules from the rest of the community.

Apologies for kicking this off. ok, the thread was childish, I'll admit that, I simply wanted to know why one part of the BBS should be treated differently to the other parts.

This policy is presently under review as the community wants are what drives SN (as long as they are reasoned).

For the time being, threads will not be moved from this forum. Moderators have only acted on guidelines previously given, so don't blame the moderators.

Please bear with us, but threads of this nature whether you are a starter or contributor are not helping the issue so I would appreciate if these ceased.
