I don't think they are that bad in the wet, I've been through quiet a few set over the past 18months
Evo magazine loved the Spec C in their car of the year test in a wet Scotland. The year befores winner was the Honda NSX-R which won on RE070's in a wet trip around wales (including circuit).
They may not be quiet as sure footed in the wet as say a Toyo but perfectly exceptable/predictable. In the Dry
and they stand up to trackday abuse well.

I found they get better the more miles you get on them
especially in the wet, not worth pushing it too much though but they do give you quite a bit of warning that they are going to slide (in the wet). Mine dont seem to tramline half as much as they did when i first picked up the car (it was raining and like driving on ice
)
Can you get these tyres Iain?

Haven't the reo70's been superseeded now by a newer model RE 070A & have gone back to being asemetrico. I have the new ones fitted & have no grumbles in the wet & stick really well in the dry even when pushed to the limit.

The new MY05 JDM Impreza has re070's fitted but in 235/45/17 size, these have a similar/same tread pattern to what i have fitted on my MY03 JDM STi spec C

I had Pirelli P Zero's on my My00 UK Turbo and they where great all round.
Now got an MY02 STi With Potenzas and I will be changing them asap, I think they are rubbish in the wet and not even that good in the dry.
Maybe it's just the way I drive, but that's my opinion!

Has anyone tried their local Subaru dealer?
The WR1's all came into the country on standard 17" STI wheels fitted with the Bridgestone RE070 tyre. These were replaced with the Prodrive 18" wheels & Pirelli tyres as part of the PDI.
Rumour has it that the standard 17" wheels & tyres have been offered to dealers for resale. I remember they did the same when the P1's & UK300's were brought into the country.
Worth asking anyway !

Dealers haven't heard anything yet but they will before the end of july! I've been chasing this for months (literally!) but it looks like a bargain (read estimted rrp from subaru is £550 ish for a set). They couldn't sell the wheels on as they had no spare tyres available if you had a puncture etc so they had to get bridgestone to import some tyres as well and thats been the hold up i think. All from a very good source.
wrx dan; maybe but subaru seemed to have either told me a little bit of duff info or dealers are extremly greedy gits!
My local dealer says £700 but he wasn't sure if that was with vat or not but he would tell me when i'm in on monday but the price subaru uk said (£500) must be the price they are suppling dealers with.
