£449? Is that the Standard or the Proactive?

Proactive is £400 +VAT (£470) & I can have you fitted anywhere in the country (by Navtrak technicians...) for the Proactive.

The Standard we normally only do at our place in E. London.

Dunno about Tescos but the Proactive tells you your car is going & the Standard means you've got to find it out for yourself. A lot of insurance companies will go for the Proactive type for any discount etc...

I'm with Tescos and I have the 'Tracker' where you need to alert them and the police if stolen. They didn't ask me which level of cover I had, I just had to provide evidence that the system was fitted.

Tell me, how is the proactive system better than the ordinary system if they nick your car by stealing the keys? Do you activate something when you get in the car?

I have a friend who's an insurance agent - they get a list of stolen cars from tracker each month - the majority (more than 90%) http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif are house break ins. I presume if you don't hear them nick it no one will know until the morning. Think I'll just get standard tracker for my WRX.

With the Proactive, you are given a Dallas key to deactivate the Navtrak everytime you go to start the car. Should the car be started without deactivation, then the Navtrak will alert the control centre.

Navtrak strongly advise, and I would agree, that you keep the Dallas key separate from your set of keys. That way, if your keys are lifted, then they have no way of deactivating the Navtrak, the call will go out & they will start tracking the vehicle and attempt to call you to find out if the vehicle has been stolen...

It is a further aid to security.

Insbro posts the Trakker stats every month on the bbs (just posted yesterday in General Section). Whilst there are a lot of house break-ins, doesn't appear to be quite the % you speak of. But still disconcerting none-the-less http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif
