Is it right that you can park your bike free just outside the Car Park barriers at Heathrow ? Is it safe enough ?

Anybody know ?There is a bike parking bay, as you enter the airport you have the bus station on the right, and a car park on the left. Also round to the left just past the car park is a bike parking section. I would imagine it is quite safe as there is a large police presence and huge amounts of cctv.
