Due to some rather nice large gold spots that were in a room, and have been removed thanks to the kind help of Mr Wallis, I now have 6 holes filled with plasterboard and skiimed in my roof.

Next step is to paint the roof white, but I was going to go over it first with some cheap magnolia then put the white on top, to hopefully stop the patches showing through?

Will that work ok?

regards,

greg

a patch is a patch u will never cover its best plastering the whole ceiling or lining paper it.

why does everyone say use Cheap emulsion?... cheap is always cheap.

Fix peice of plaster board ABOVE the holes in the ceiling.. this will make a 'back stop' to fill against.
It may take two or three fills... or use some plaster to pack it.. then final skim with filler........ when dry sand with a rubbing block to get a smoooooth flat finish.
prime the nu bare filler with one or even two thin coats of quality emulsion. Then paint the ceiling as usual.. two coats always best.

I dont know why I said cheap white.. we just use the stuff from johnstones normally..

I dont mean cheap 3 quid stuff.. if you see what I mean!

(and I know you hate johnstones)

I have just done the same. I used Dulux trade Super Matt. First coat was watered down by about 20% and then 3 coats to finish. Looks great.
