View Full Version : Fitting a dishwasher

I have just moved house and (someone else) will be rebuilding the kitchen in a different room. But whilst I get that sorted, I need to put the dishwasher into the existing kitchen. It's a brand new dishwasher and the instructions say I should attach the water outlet pipe to the u bend. However the existing kitchen has one of those old "stick the tube down it" pipes.

Will it be ok to just push the outlet pipe down the tube for a few months until the new kitchen is sorted?

Or should I get a new U bend with the correct adapter on it and use that?

I've had mine stuck down the tube for about 2 years with no hassle

decided to move the kitchen.. :)

it will be fine as long as you dont kink the pipe as the pumps sometimes struggle..

I'm not moving the kitchen ;) , someone else will be building a new kitchen in that long room with the nice cork tiles!! Will put a utility room in half of the ensuite and fill in the patio door down there for a sink under the window.

Then plan is for the existing kitchen to become the dining room!

And two new rooms over the garage.....

Now need some money ;)

You can get away with sticking it down the tube, my washer is still that way in our utility.

Just don't stick it down far enough to contact the water in the bend at the bottom, or it can syphon back onto your clean washing/dishes:(:

someone here once plumbed the gas supply onto the dishwasher having mistaken the nice cold copper pipe for the cold water supply ;)
