Having been told its not possible to clean the Mass Air Flow Sensor inboard of the air filter and forked out £77 to my local Subaru Dealer, I'm wondering if this is not quite true?

Does anyone know of an aerosol type product (and supplier) I can clean my old sensor with, to test this out and see if i've been told porkies?

Have resurrected one or two with brake cleaner, but they usually die soon afterwards, they can of course take your engine with them. On a 99 RB5 many of the original ones will have failed, the replacements are supposedly more robust anyway.
