I'm looking to buy a 2nd car as a runabout for work. Rang the insurance co. who quoted silly numbers saying I would have to start from 0 years no claims if I wanted to insure another vehicle on my policy:mad:!
Anyone know of the best way around this so I don't end up paying stupid money to insure a Fiesta:confused:
i had same when i brought a mondeo as a second car-was no way round it so had to pay nearly as much to insure a 1.8 td mondeo as a scooby in first year :eek2:

Some ins co's will match the NCD you have on your first car with an equivelant intro disc on your 2nd car pol. All depends on the co you're with.

got the same problem.........I want to get an Elise as a summer car and I am getitng well & truely screwed. The best way seems to be to use my no claims on the elise to get a £900 premium, then swap in my GTi for a 950cc mini and insure that with zero no-claims!!

Speak to a Broker (Swinton/AA), they will be able to find a policy that will reflect the percentage discount off your 1st policy. If you can put it in your partners name (spouse/common-law though) and you may see an even bigger discount.
