I need to move a radiator in my mums lounge, and as it's nearly as old as me she's decided to replace it with a new one. I've been told that modern radiators are a lot more efficient than the old ones, and she would like me to get a smaller one on if I can.

Does anybody know if there is a formula for calculating the size of rad needed for a given room? or is it generally 'thumb in the wind' stuff?
