I'm going to get one of the STi Steering Column mounted boost guages from Scoobysport.

http://www.caravell.co.uk/miniboost.jpg

Saw a couple at brands on Friday and thought how ingenious they are. Very small and tidy, yet functional and exactly where you would want one so you don't have to look away from the dash.

What are the warranty implications on boodt guages. I have a 6 week old P1 and therefore the warranty is important to me.

Thanks
Kurt http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

No probs with warranty AFAIK.

Scoobysport are selling these? How much are they? The only place I've seen them before is Graham Goode and I think they were nearly 250 quid.

The advantage (IMHO) is that they light up in the same way as the rest of the instruments.

Thanks for the response. My next question was going to be "does it light up like the rest of the gauges".

Price seems to be the same wherever you go and they are readily available.

Being a pukka Subaru part, there should be no problems.

Get real - the whole of my car is a pukka subaru part yet Subaru Uk wont touch it !!!!

This item is a dealer fit option in Switzerland, so I doubt there'd be any warranty problems. It lights up green with the dash too - although a *slightly* different (lighter) shade.

About £200 fitted here, & very nice! Let me know if you want the part number.

I've got one in my car, you may have seen it at Brands.

It was from SS, yes it does light up and yes it is the nuts http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

Scott, If your Impreza was the Silver one with the cool P1 style anthracite wheels and fancy wheel nuts, then it was.

I'm having the little fella fitted at Scoobysport on Saturday morning.

They are available from Scoobysport, GGR & BR Developments.

Very neat gauge. I was informed at the weekend by a very reliable source that you should be able to get these now from your local dealer (they are an official Subaru accessory, so you shouldn't have warranty problems). Cost? Expect to pay around £200.

Cheers

Got the gauge fitted at Scoobysport this morning. All I can say is that the above picture doesn't do it justice. In real life, it's way too cool to be real!

Car magazine said "The Sti boost gauge is so hip, it hurts". I have to say they were right.

Also, a word of thanks to the guys at Scoobysport. They really looked after me, plied me with lots of cups of tea (it was early) and let me surf the web all the time I was there.

Pete Snr, hope the headache has gone and the flatulence has subsided now. Going up north to get me some e-by-gum!

£264.00 in fitting.

Peace of mind included as it's a genuine Subaru part. Fitted by Pete's own fair hand as well.

JD

Speak to Jim Childs at Cheam Motors - he has some in stock and can fit it for you. He said it would cost around £200.

Joey, just pop along to Cheam and speak to Jimbo, 020-8394-2263. Unfortunately he doesnt stock incontinence pads for your dribble.........

Dont worry, he wont overcharge you..........

Cheers Sunil,

It was all looking so good until I looked at a few more photos of one :

Not too sure if I like that cable sticking out the back. I was hoping that all the cables would go in through the bottom of the gauge and hence be hidden by the steering column cover.

Call me Mr Fussy but I want it to look like a factory fit gauge, not something you would buy from Halfords (I am not implying that the STi gauge looks like that but you know what I mean!!).

That one hasnt been installed properly, the cable gets hidden in the steering wheel shroud and then into the dash!!

kurtw
14 November 2000, 20:52
Yep,

Mine's a lot tidier than that!

Gizmo555

Fine but what about all those important warning lights on the dash which you can't see now.

Also slight lock on steering wheel and you can't see the thing.

I've got one fitted by Power Engineering on A pillar. Doesn't get in the way although you do need to glance away to see it.

How much do you really look at it anyway ?
Got mine fitted just to make sure engines running fine/correct boost. Occasional look is all thats needed.

My car's too fast for me to spend time looking at the gauge.

I do however tell my passengers that if they see the needle swinging round to the right, they should close their eyes as things might get scary.

The business about the steering wheel and lights are really not issues I've encountered.

Looks like I might be getting myself an early christmas present then!!

Just out of interest anybody got a photo of a decently installed STi gauge for me to get all excited about??

If this is a real Subaru part does anyone happen to have the part number for it? I do believe if we have the part number we should be able to order these stateside from our dealers. Apparently once the new WRX was announced they opened up the floodgates to get rid of the older parts.
