Hi all

Does anyone know of a place which supplies the centre gauge pod thing for a reasonable price?

It's a piece of plastic, and paying 100 quid plus seems a little bit excessive to my Northern mindset (and wallet).

You got the stanard pod from Subaru... what dials did you fit in there. Was it straight forward with the subaru pod?

I have 2 1/16" gauges, and whilst it is a tight fit, they do go in. You will need to make up a fascia though, as the pod does not come with one.

Yes the HKS 46 mm gauges will go in there.

A little tight but they do fit.

The way in which I checked was got the Subaru Pod, printed out 3 hks gauges on a piece of paper and then used that as a template.

You can get the full set (pod and gauges - oil pressure, oil temp and boost) from Subaru dealers in the Netherlands. Cost including BTW (their VAT) is 486 Dutch Guilders - about £135. A friendly dealer's name is Frits Kempen, in Limburg Province - details in the Subaru manual. Alternatively, Auto Tecnica in Huddersfield have a couple in stock which they bought from Frits after they saw my installation. I bought my MY00 inc gauges from Frits 6 weeks ago. Smashing, super, lovely great! What a car!

We are making our own centre gauge pod to take at least 3 x 52mm gauges which leaves your choice of gauges much more open.

I am putting 2 x SPA dual gauges and 1 x Autometer (Lunar) gauge in my centre pod.

The Racimex boost gauge shows -ve. On a trailing throttle this is a steady -0.5 bar, which goes less if you snap the throttle shut. The gauge is quite smooth in operation - i.e. it doesn't jerk between settings. I'm very happy with mine. Perhaps the feed was taken from the wrong pipe? Bear in mind I'm no expert on mechanical things! Mine is taken from the bottom of a T-piece roughly in the middle of the engine bay.

This dealer has a carbon instruments surround for £60!! Can't tell if it's real or not though. Is this a Subaru part?

Curious. I've got the Racimex ones (fitted by a Dutch dealer) and they have never read negative. Get about .95/1 bar on full boost and the needle goes well above this on a fast gear change.

Mine is also tee'd off the grey pipe to the left of the engine bay. I thought you only got the -ve reading if you took the feed off the spare 'valve' on the top of the engine block.

Nick - that's probably where my feed is from. Sorry for being vague - engines are a bit of a black hole to me - I just drive 'em! My t-piece isn't to the left (where I know there is one), it's roughly in the middle. On top of the cylinder head. Lazy throttle is steady at -0.5 bar, smoothly increasing to 0, when you can *feel* the boost coming in - it nver goes higher than ~1 bar. Normally settles around 0.95, same as yours. Much more fun watching the needle wiggling about, though...

Forget the white-faced gauges set from Holland ( - well, you would at over four times the price, wouldn't you http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif. I forget exactly what gauges they are, but they struck me as being pretty useless. Something like volt and amp meters. Can't remember the third, but something equally unexciting!

The negative you are referring to is the vacuum. My pipe is conected to the spare hole in the mamifold, and the gauge reads both vacuum and boost.

It's the visible lump which can be seem when someone is wearing a tight top and a bra that is too small for them.

I might have missed it somewhere but where is the best place to get HKS gauges ?

HKS seems to be supplied ScoobyMania or BRDevelopments (Bob Rawle). Scoobymania told me that they couldn't fit them for me, which leaves me stuffed on that front.

Much cheaper seems to be the AutoMeter ones that Stef has fitted, supplied by Real Steel and fitted by Tyres Northampton, I think.

Stef: how much did TN actually do? Did they fit the interior stuff too? If so, they're getting my business!
