The standard stereo in a classic is a Phillips one, and as such will only work with a Phillips Changer.
I have a Phillips 6CD Changer from my classic for sale (along with the head unit), as I changed the head unit for a better Alpine one.
Let me know if you want the Phillips Changer mattsan, and my offer still stands problem child.

It was fitted under the passenger seat in my MY03 Sti :)
