Canon Powershot Pro 1?
Nikon Coolpix 8700?
Olympus 8080?

Or any comments on the above?

Or any suggestions OTHER than the above?

Thanks for any input.

Fuji range is very nice, used to have a Fuji SLR and the lenses are superb quality, now got a Finepix Digital and am very impressed with it

I bought a Sony DSCP 72 last year
3.2M pixels.

Pic quality is great (unless you're printing posters! :) )
Easy to use
I paid £200 although now they are very good value for money ( I've seen them for around £150 )

I would recommend it to anyone.

I've got a Nikon Colpix (albeit the 4300) but IIRC, the functions are very similar.

Cannot fault it for home use, and with 4M pixels, pics can be blown up to A4 for printing with good clarity.

I've got a Nikon coolpix 5700, can't fault it. purchased for £380 new off ebay also a total bargain. Not sure if I would pay the extra wedge for a 8700 especially when you wont get any bargins as its a new model.

Well, the Canon EOS 300d with kit lens is only £30 more than the pro1, so I know where my money would go! It opens up the whole world of EOS flexibility/creativity :)

I had a Nikon coolpix 5700 which is pretty similar to the 8700, cracking camera as far as results go, but the menus are a pain and they are not very intuitive. I now have a Canon EOS 300D and love it to bits. Easy to use and I can get pictures of action sports too. Something that is difficult with the 5700.
