The theme for round 8 is 'Open'.

Photograph anything you like! Hopefully this will encourage a lot of entries ;)

Last day for entries is 30th June. Three images per photographer. Borders around your picture are allowed, so if anyone wants to know how to do it very simply in Photoshop, or would like me to add one to their picture, then just ask :)

Entries should be posted here (http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/showthread.php?p=3420236) as usual, with discussion here.

Good luck

Just posted up an entry to try and encourage some of you to have a go. It's not hard, take a pic of anything! Mine took about 2 minutes messing around in the garden with the dog :)

Ive got a good picture that would be great in this round, only problem is I took it a while back, but I might have a go with something similar

I have managed to pop out and have a couple of entries in now thanks to taking the old 35mm film camera out on a trip into wales, and also a walk in the country.

Photobucket is apparently experiencing problems, hence my pic not displaying (and some others by the look of it!). Hope they sort it out soon!

Nice pic - care to share lighting details?

Right then, 6 sec exp with a f/2.8 ap with no flash, darkened room and my old friend the pen torch(also see model mania in the 'motion' competition). Set the camera(Kodak dx4900) on a tripod, onto timer, then 'pulled' torch steadily across the guitar once the timer tripped, hence the band of light near the middle and the collected light round the volume/tone pots as the guitar body is arched. As with most things like this, it took a large number of goes to get the lighting right, straight, etc. I think all in all this pic took me the best part of an hour to get.

Over the course of today, I have come up with an idea for my third entry, based upon the guitar, but youll have to wait for that one(got to see if my idea works to start with)

I finally picked up my new lens today (Canon 28-135) so I can now play. I've got a few ideas but I don't think I am going to have time to do it this week :(

Cheers Darren :)

My ears are still hurting from the pics I got there. You can get right underneath the runway about 50-60ft away from the start of it. The planes pass by a few feet over your head. Worth the pain though I got some useful stuff there.

Were you allowed to be there or did you sneak on the airfield? ;)

There is a car park nearby and a road that runs directly under the flightpath. I may have vaulted a fence to just get that little bit closer ;). Some of the shots came out so bad though, one of a BA prop plane scared the crap out of me. Noisiest thing I ever heard and it felt like it was heading straight for me :D I started edging slightly to the right (like it would make a difference  ) and ended up on the floor after bottling it :D

Nice one:D
Reminds me - John Lennon airport - I used to take my scoob to the old airport in Speke - just by the entrance to Speke hall, and behind the hotel. There's a huge bit of waste ground there, that I went belting around many a time. Bumped into the police there once, where they were training dogs. They didn't care at all, luckily, & gave me the thumbs up:D. drove back with the car completely caked in mud....

Some really nice pictures there. I like that bridge especially (Wizzbang) - is that Brunel's one, or am I thinking of the other one in Bristol?:)

I've no idea why I didn't enter any of the other competitions.... Perhaps coz I've only just begun to put stuff on the 'net...

Anyway, keep it up. It's not hard to take a picture. Just go out and look for some inspiration:D

It wouldn't be a red, a green and a blue filter all together, would it? They should have a similar effect... I know I'm wrong though:D

How about a dodgy tri-colour disco light, or some such thing:D?

Franx,

Sorry to say it, but the rules state the photos must be shot within the current few weeks....

Hi Darren,
Have fun with your Canon 28-135 lens. I use this lens quite often on my 10D.
Cheers,

swiss scooby,

I've taken about 6 pictures with it so far, I just have not had the time. I was planning to shoot some films this weekend but we are now planning and purchasing our new bathroom. More money :(

As soon as I get some pictures developed  I'll make sure they are posted for review :D

Oh and by the way, wicked pictures :)

Question. I have two pictures that are a sequence. If they are taken in isolation then they don't seem to mean much but as a sequence they convey a message far more than mere words ever could...

Can I enter a sequence as one picture? I mean, it'll count as 2 for the purposes of my 3 entry limit but as 1 for the purposes of judging. Am I making sense? I know what I mean but...

Well, as nobody else has ventured an answer, I'd be inclined to say 'yes, the more the merrier'.

Also BTTT as a reminder that the competition is still open :)

Where's Mr Cookie? Who's going to be doing the poll, its going to be quite a big one!

AndyC_772

I've not heard from him for ages :(

I'm happy to post the voting thread, but it's not ideal since people can see and be influenced by previous votes before casting their own. Any techie types fancy creating & hosting a poll script?
