i am fire proofing a metal girder unfortuately the fireline board is not long enough. can i butt join the two together? or do i need to join it some other way?

30 mins in a commerecial building. i have 12.5mm fireline board so i don't have to double line it in normal plaster board. it is 9cm to short so i need to join it. just want to know the best way to do it.
do i butt joint it and just skim it or do i put some sealer on the joint?
