Question

In the US, our new style WRX cars are fitted with a bulb which does not have an internal shield for dipped beam. Bulb type is 9007. Previous US Imprezas had H4 lights, (called 9003 here,) which produced a nice cutoff pattern. Our new style Imprezas also have Daytime Running Lights, when the car is running with the parking brake off and the headlight switch off, the main beams are illuminated at a lower intensity than normal.
Do UK spec 01 cars still use H4 bulbs? I am considering a new WRX, but do not fancy the new Morettes for the 01. Perhaps fitting H4 lamps from French or German spec cars (RH rule-of-road) would be an option for me. US cars also do not have in-car height adjusters, there are electric motors fitted to each lamp, or is there a mechanical linkage between the lamps? Thanks.

Hi Frenchy

The European 01's do use an H4 bulb and must, by EC law, have height adjustment from inside the car.

One thing about the 01 headlights, they work VERY well !!

Especially with uprated bulbs.

If you can live with the styling (I can) then the performance is excellent.

Just wait for the new Morrette twin headlamp conversion for the MY01. I've seen some pictures and it transforms the car - especially the STI version.
