Exclamation POLICE NOTICE FOR HUDDERSFIELD IMPREZA OWNERS

There has been a spate of component parts being stolen from Imprezas recently in the Huddersfield area, a total of 8 since March this year.
Vehicles targetted are MY00 or older and usually Sport or Turbo Models. Property stolen is always the bonnet, front lights, front bumper/spoiler and grill all committed overnight on vehicles parked in the road or on driveways outside the house.
It is possible the property was removed without the vehicles alarm being activated.

Crime Prevention advice - If you cannot garage your car, there is a device on sale at B&Q called an Audio Sensor Light priced £35, (Aisle 47 at Huddersfield branch) which is mounted on an outside wall where the car is parked and will chime indoors when somebody walks past.

If you have any information about the above offences, please ring Huddersfield Police Station tel.01484 436659 or Crimestoppers (anonymously) 0800555111
If you require further Crime Prevention advice contact Huddersfield Police and ask for PC Chris Green.

Diane Taylor, Vehicle Intelligence Analyst, Huddersfield Police Station.

Phil,
Please post this onto the west yorks site, maximum coverage needed

James;
These offences do seem to be peculiar to Huddersfield area at the moment, I do not know of any others in the County. I can speak to other Forces and reply for you next week.

Dianne - I think I can speak for all by saying many thanks for taking the time to register & post the details..

As I'm assuming you work in the force or are closely linked, I'm trying to get hold of some house windows stickers that announce that your 'car keys are safe', for the club.

A brief meet with someone from Leeds, who knew I had a scoob, sent me a personal 'packup' that contained leaflets and even rear view mirror hangers that said the car was secure.

I did ring, and left a message with, the local Crime prevention Officer in Wakefield and received no reply. Are you able to get hold a couple of dozen (stickers mainly) that I can hand out to members & visitors of the club please? If not, do you have name I can contact?

I can get my address to you whenever..

Appreciated..

Al.

Thumbs up

Mmmm, sounds like a dodgy vehicle repair outfit somewhere using stolen parts to repair accident damaged ones..

[suspicious mode]Alternatively, those pesky Vauxhall Nova's and Ford KA's will have Impreza bonnets, as well as our bonnet scoops very soon. [/suspicious mode]

Thanks for the info Diane, I always worry about my ungaraged Impreza on the driveway, and I will be a little extra vigilant now.

Thanks
Simon

I think if someone could nick my bonnet without the alarm screaming , I'd be straight on to the suppliers

Not just in H/Field I'm afraid, also happening in North Staffs.

In last few months I've had grille badge, boot emblems and front fogs nicked from my turbo, parked right outside my house.

My neighbour, also a turbo owner has had windscreen trim nicked and both have had attempted theft of items.

Also know of at least 3 other owners who have had parts nicked including side skirts and boot spoiler.

Still, I'm not paranoid, it's only a car that I work bloody hard to maintain!!!!

Skoosh.

Time for a perimeter alarm there I think - although I'm not a fan of Cliffords, they can make enough noise at night to scare someone away and wake enough people up if anyone goes to close.

Isn't there an upgrade to the standard alarms for a bonnet catch that'll go off if the bonnets lifted - my Cobra alarm has that.

Also - isn't it worth the old invisible marker trick on your bonnet (might help somewhere along the line if everyone put a little mark somewhere that can only be picked up with UV lights)
