Have got to redo round the shower tray again !!, I've used the Unib**d remover and then white flexible sealant (with mold inhibitor) but it keeps going black and looking naff, yet the original stuff (which also gets wet) put in when the shower was about 8 years ago is fine. Can anyone suggest a better brand (preferably one which the builders/plummers use) which will last a bit longer than 6 months ? and where can I get some from.
Thanks in advance .

There's one advertised on TV at the mo, says it won't go mouldy for 10 years!
I THINK it's made by Unibond.
Screwfix do a silicone specifically for sanitary ware, again with mould inhibitor.
Any decent builder's or plumber's merchants will advise, and sell you the right stuff.
don't expect to pay £0.99 per tube though:D:

i had the same trouble with my bath, whilst i was doing me car i read a tub of tiger seal. it was pva flexable. so i went and got some white and put it round the bath (i do have a d bead round the bath as well). that was 12 months ago and it has been fine no cracking or mold. i don't think it was supposed to be used for this but i am impressed

travis perkins sell their own brand sealant that has a 10yr mould proofing. Its much cheaper than DIY stores and has 25% extra free at the moment too!

When you have removed the old silicone make sure its 100% dry and there is no dirt, dust at all, reseal it and it will be fine.
Dont by cheap stuff and make sure its no water based. Got some stuff thats guaranteed for 25 years which does the job.

best stuff is Dow corning from any decent merchant like plumb center
sticks like s*** to a squirrels arse though so make sure its right 1st time
the stuff from screw-fix is not bad for the money i use it a lot and you have half a chance of moving it if you do it wrong
