I've just (yesterday) bought a MY97 and am unimpressed by the standard brakes, a lot of travel before anything happens and pretty wooden feel when it eventually does, particulary when compared to my old M3 Evo.

My question is: which brake upgrade do people think is best and will fit within the standard 16" wheels?

Good afternoon
Does your my 97 have twin or four pot front calipers?
if you have two pots then an upgrade to the fours would be a good start, check out the private forum or place an ad in the wanted forum.

I have four pots, i went through two sets of disks and pads in 40K

I changed to the EBS set-up for around £ 200.00 for disks and greenstuff pads which i find more than adequate for road use.

Much improved braking over the original set-up although noisier due to the 'dimpled' and 'grooved' disks.

Thanks for the info. I'll check the calipers later - I assume that it's fairly obvious from looking at them whether they are 2 or 4 pot?

Is it worth upgrading the flexible hoses to stainless braided ones? And if so how difficult is it to do this?

Tom, do a SEARCH on this. This is covered on a weekly basis.

Dan

Sorry to seem rude, but the same question time after time...
