Whadda you reckon?

Ticket prices this year

HIGHER or LOWER?

How much to watch the start and finish (previously FREE), which is now based at the Superspecial so we can pay more...

Will there be the chance to pay over £100 for a 'World Rally Pass'?

Will we pay more for the service area access than we pay for the whole rally pass in Germany again this year?

Hurray! Not long now, and looking forward to the 'improved facilities' we were promised 3 years ago.

I guess those were the 3 extra porta-loos and greasy burger stands I spotted last year...

Come on guys lets all get behind our own round of the WRC, after all it would be unpatriotic of me to complain about the chance to relieve myself of more cash this year.

Whadda you all think - 1st and old-timers. Am I alone in feeling a little pi**ed off that the Organisers feel its OK to charge so much for so little.

And will we be charged more because it's going to be sunny weather?

you are sooo cynical, I really don't know why? I'm hoping warm rain will make it all worthwhile. That is rain falling on me isn't it?

This is my first post on this forum and I feel its a sad that it has to be nagitive.

In my opion we 'specators' are charged to much not only in line with orther WRC rounds but also if you look at Ireland where he top 20+ cars are usualy WRC sepc cars.

However I think that SOME (its not the verious motorclubs fault) of the orginasiers are unfairly targeted the FIA ask for silly fee's for the event as a WRC round, but along with that why should that affect out ticket prices? (based on last year's ticket price's) its cheaper from me to go the GP then to the rally of WALES er I mean GB.

Last year myself and me mate got event passes - 75 squid for 3/4 selected stages a day plus unlimited access to service... and thursday superspecial... that was the best deal we thought....

Hope it doesnt get any worse... the Germans are offering 50euros for it all this year - apart from specials, which in my opinion is WAY better than our prices - plus kids under 12 go free! No chance of that happening here eh?

Am I not right in thinking that the prices for the rally have not increased for over 2 years now.

As for kids going free, I am sure that in previous years the kids under 9 go for free on every event but still need a ticket.

Yes the WRGB is one of the most expensive rallys but at the end of the day its in GB? We always get ripped off because we are not tough enough to say "NO" I won't pay that.

In my opinion the WRGB is one of the best if not the best which is why I will be paying the money.

Dont get me wrong, im willing to pay the money for an excellent rally, although it does break my heart to see that the cypriots are paying 15 pounds or whatever it is to get into there rally. ITS NOT FAIR!!!!! lol

Still, i'll willingly go and get bum raped our of my money to see it!

Without getting into the rights and wrongs of the ticket pricing, you might like to take a look at http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/showthread.php?t=240630 which is a thread explaining some of the breakdown behind the ticket costs.

O yeah, i totally agree! its well worth the money - 4 days rallying for cheaper (event pass) than 2 hrs grand prix... deffo....

And i spose its the governments fault then - VAT, tax, etc! :-)

Lol, on a more serious note - im not havin a dig! just voicing my opinion! I guess you could also say that if the land owners werent so stuck up, they should be proud of having the WRC host a round in their back garden, they might let them do it for free.... or is that pushing my luck?? :-D

Me and my pa paid £150 each for the event pass so i think it has went down by £50 this year. It is still alot compared to what our fellow europeans are paying, but it was really good and i enjoted it but wish i could be more close to the action as you have to be waiting at least 45min at the front of the teams service spot at the service parck to get a good close view of the cars and drivers and you've got to contend with the bloody norwegens trying to push past you to kiss Mr Solberegs ass!

Good laugh though!

Hi I am new to the forum.

Yes, the prices on the tickets are riduculous, we are being out priced. I will be finding my own way into the rally, with the use of the good old O/S maps and a flask of coffee, and end up being a 100 quid better off!

Hi, I am new to the forum.

Yes we are being ripped off, and being outpriced with the recent ticket prices.
I won't be purchasing tickets this year, instead I will be finding my own way to some of the stages, with the help of the good old O/S maps and a flask of tea, and that way I will be a 100 odd quid better off!

You can try... just dont be one of the tw@s who get in scott free, and then fcuk around and stand in dangerous places, causing the saftey marshalls to cancel the stage after the drive through... Cos then a lot of paying spectators will be PISSED OFF!!!!

So as long as you dont that fine. good luck to ya!

the reason germany and cyprus also many other wrc`s are cheaper is because there run on public roads rather than private roads which is the problem with wrgb and as most of you know after a stage has been run twice
the roads are all torn up and in a bad way so the land owners (forrest enterprize) has got to pay for gangs to go out and repair the 800 miles or so of road which does n`t come cheap

i think your wrong! every rally in the country has to pay a fortune to use forests or private land, even small non championship events manage to pay for this with the ever growing entry fees, all this done without the big bucks from itv sport, and without charging us a kings ransom for the privilege. Everybody pays vat not just in wales, also the rally is getting shorter, bring back the glory days of a real rally gb.

Damp and Dusty..

Whilst I agree that every rally pays for the forestry usage, that is on a set £ per mile basis for first and second usage (I know - Im one of the organisers of the Dukeries Rally and Premier Rally in Sherwood Forest), Rally GB pays far in excess of that figure as its commercial deal is completely different and based on ticket sales % than £ per mile. Also the amount of work the FC has to do to prepare for Rally GB in terms of clearing spectator areas, cleaning up, etc etc doesnt compare to a normal forest rally. Additionally the other costs for the event are huge - simply down to the 'size' of the event.

However, when thats all said and done, I didnt write the breakdown for the ticket prices - I just pointed people at it!

Rally Finland is also run mainly on Public Roads. The Lankamaa (Friday) stage passes through and finishes at my mate's farm and by the end of the weekend the rally organisers had funded truckloads of "road-repairing sand" and trucks with scrapers on their undersides to trot along and repair the roads. All funded from the Event Passes (45 Euro, £30). I still don't get why our's is so damn expensive. Somebody somewhere is creaming it, there's no other way to explain away the fact that WalesRallyGB is SUBSTANTIALLY more expensive than the other European events. It's not that there's a few quid difference, the GB event is 3 TIMES THE PRICE! You can't explain that away by comparing VAT rates of 17.5% v. 8%, it just doesnt add up!

I read a post earlier where somebody was trying to justify the excessive pricing of WalesRally to be due to "paying for lighting"!!!!! How absurd that the rally now moves from a dark Novmeber to a sunny September and the price goes up by 32% on last year! Duh!

For those that don't know, I've been a reg RAC rally goer for 14 years or so, but I refuse to be ass-raped this year, Ouch!
