hi,

just wondering if anyone had any comments on what is the best wheel to go for (looks and performance wise)

17 or 18" superleggera or p1 ??..they're to be fitted to a full prodrive spec mica blue 4 door and will also be used for track days.

cheers

steve

Damn good question - I went through the same quandry recently and ended up with the Prodrive wheels because of offset and, bizarrely, insurance: they're a subaru mod, so are ok.

The Superleggera are considerably lighter as I understand it.

It's up to you.

If I told you I had Prodrive P1 wheels on mine and Superleggeras are crap would you take any notice?? - and your taste will be different to mine.

Put the ones on that YOU like!!!!

Just remember though, colour is everything. P1 wheels and superleggeras are both anthracite.

That's how it's supposed to be isn't it, Dave?

Question

thanks for that 'chiark'...do you have any pictures of either wheel on a dark blue car or know anyone who does ?

also, do you know if the 18 makes that much difference on the track..i currently run 17's (which i'm happy with) and can get p0's or so2's for a decent price whereas a set of 18's each time is quite a lot more, but they do look nicer..decisions !!!

thanks again

steve

At the weekend I'll have a picture of the P1 wheels on a Dark Blue Mica car - mine

That is assuming everything goes to plan...

Cool

Why not try the Speeline F1 GT's? I had them in Gold and they looked awesome. You can get them in anthracite and they are cool.

Chiark
Not any more mate - residing on both our MY00's are Prodrive OZ 10 spoke P1 wheels - but in GOLD.

Yes I know Pete Lewis thinks they are crap but so what!!

I prefer P1 wheels to Superleggeras. Others are the other way round. I respect all decisions of the individual

Guys !I am in the same position here.Want a set of wheels for MY00 4 door.Your pictures are very helpful indeed. If anybody would like to post any other pictures of their car with any type of wheel to aid in my choice, I would be more than grateful. And I know this question has been asked before but are 18" a waste of time cause the car drives beautifully with the prodrive suspension and I certainly dont want to change that.Any help appreciated.

ricky,

i don't know if it's of any use to you but i've spoken to a friend at prodrive today who has said that there are no problems running 18's with the prodrive suspension providing the geometry is set correctly and that on track days the tyres will last much longer than 17's.

Does anyone know if the Superleggera has the proper offset for the WRX? I'm undecided between it and the Prodrive and I like the fact that it is considerably lighter than the Prodrive. But the offset has me concerned.

Hi 22b, he used to have them up but for some reason they don't work anymore... I'll post the phantom pics anyway just in case they come back up...

These are/were wider pics of his Blue Ridge Pearl with OZ P1's before they disappeared mysteriously

This one doesn't help much but it might give you a better idea...

I did hours of searching last night for a picture of one dark blue car with P1's but to no avail. Hmmm... are you handy with photochopping?

Cheers
