Question Best price for UK 6 Speed with suretrack diff

Anyone recently bought a new 6 speed for 2002 UK model? Just after a contact for best prices and delivery. Understand I need the linkage and drive shaft to allow fitment to UK WRx 2002.

FAO John Banks...did you sort out a 6 speed box? I remember you were buying the AP racing organic clutch and sti flywheel...was that to fit a 5 or 6 speed?

I've been told the clutch fitting doesn't matter for a UK 5 or 6 speed box, but I've just asked for prices on a clutch/flywheel and they've asked to confirm 5 or 6 box. Is it right that a 6 speed can be fitted to any clutch/flywheel?

AS, try speaking to API David (David O'Brien) on 01926 614522.

Alternatively, Grade A might be worth a punt (www.gradea-subaru.co.uk).

On ebay it didnt have all the bits though. Had gearbox and rear diff. No prop though

Still, it went for around £1500 (£1525 like you said)

But how rare is that - they hardly ever come up!

Money, rare: yes, it did have the prop as I asked the seller!
This is a great alternative to the Dog box option which will cost 3 to 4 K to do!
Even a new 6 speed is value as you have all the driveability etc.

I think John Banks has do it all with his 2.5 motor and this box, and fitted the larger 6 speed clutch too.

This mod is high on the list as I race seriously my Stiv3 and I'm waiting for the big bang soon.....

Keep watching ebay.

Think there are a couple of guys in US as well

All trans have their limits. In my Sti i have 315 bhp and more importantly 280 lbf torque
If you put 350/330 torque through it it my give way, but at my 'level' it would do nicely!
Good value @ £1500 compared to an awkward to use on the road Dog box?

Little off the plot, but on the subject...... does anyone make sequential boxes for the impreza. I'd be willing to pay for that. (mind you last price i heard was 35K from prodrive).

I also want a six speed but don't really think i'll be able to find one.

There's a Japanese company making a sequential conversion unit for the standard 5MT Impreza box IIRC, but this was nothing more than a gadget that fits over the standard gearstick.

Only "sort-of production" proper Impreza sequential box is the one available for the customer spec Impreza WRC S6 and S7's, and that obviously won't fit a roadcar.

Unloading a container 08.30 March 31st: including one 6 speed JDM box with shift linkage, prop, crossmember etc. No rear diff [3.9 ] I'm afraid. The diffs are coming through by persistence, but mostly from UK sources.

Call me if you need it.

Jim, Sorry not yet - I'm working hard on getting this stuff from Japan as often as the market price will allow. It seems that the world has woken up to the idea of the 6 speeder in a classic and the bidding war in Japan to get hold of one when they are offered has to be seen to be believed.

Law of averages says l must get some - but in honesty I haven't even asked for suretrack rears yet. Are they fitted to everything STi in Japan and here [UK] or does anyone have specific info on what and where??

David some companies overseas advertise R160 Suretrack rears suitable for MY99-04 Imprezas, If my memory serves me right they are available as standard on WRX03-04 Australian DM and JDM WRXs but not sure.

Ive just sold a 6spd, had it on 22b.. sold within mins..

passed it on at cost to Cord..

£1100.. shame he wanted 100quid for the linkage too..

Think I paid 200 for my linkage though, so make sure you get one with the box, due to the cable needed for reverse.

So 1200 for a 6spd.. not too bad..

a contact that has had their eye out for ages for me.. originally had the word out as steven wanted one, but then he got sorted..

I dont think they are worth 1500 - 1800 regardless.. so I wasnt going to ebay it or add money on, would rather just pass it on a cost..

Im trying to chase the prop.. but having no luck as yet.

Ref the 6 speed linkage problem - be careful, we bought a set up from a car with light fire damage and all the rubber and neoprene bits in the shift linkage were melted enough to be unusable. Ordered new rubbers etc from Subaru - 276 quid !!

Won't be doing that again..........

Luckily I could check it, he was going to remove it.. 100 quid got the linkage and left it bolted up

Whew. Would have been more cost-effective in those circumstances to take some measurements and get them made by Powerflex or similar.

Question

Is the linkage from a JDM 6 speed the same as the quick shift kit you can buy some subaru for about £350???
