Question HID FOR STI8

Can anyone recommend a HID kit for an sti8, or have fitted to their car already point me in the right direction please!

There seems so many companies who do them and the different colour temperatures bulbs on offer that its a bit confusing.

Any comments welcomed.

Speak to Nick at Autolamps online.

The guy is a lighting guru, and will answer any questions you have.
Good prices too.

Had a look but no number to ring! ..... ?

sorry, didn't look hard enough, found a contact number but it seems on their application chart they don't do a hid kit for the sti8.

Sorry, that's all I have, but try mailing them to nick@autolamps-online.co.uk as he's the man you need to speak to.

He'll explain all about colour temperature etc, and how NOT to buy stuff from Eastern Europe, or the far East!

Mine is "only" a UK classic, (but near 300bhp ).

I have Morettes with GE Megalights in the outers, and HID driving lights where the OE fogs were..........the driving lights were from Scoobysport.

excellent!
How do find the light output of the new setup?

Any chance of some pics m8?

I had a accord type-r about 5 yrs ago and they had gas discharge headlights as O.E and ever since i always wanted that setup. They make the difference to night driving!

The Morettes are pretty good on their own, but with the HIDs on main beam, the effect is night into day.

I've never had brighter lights, and that includes 4 Lucas Flarepath rally lights on a mkII Escort rally car!

A small criticism would be that the driving lights are mounte a tad too low, being where fog lights should be, but they are so bright it hardly matters.

I'm toying withy the idea of replacing the inner main beam lights on the Morettes with the Hella HID main beams as are fitted to the P1, (but can't bring myself to pay out another £600 or so, now I already have HID on driving lights). The OE lights on the Morettes are H2 bulbs, so not easily uprated:

No, the dip/mains are the outer pair of headlights, the inner pair are main beam only, and the driving lights are mounted where the fogs would have been, had I not put them where they do the most good.............on the shelf in my garage

I've got Autolamps HID kit on an STi7 which uses the same blubs as an STi8. They are fantastic. The 4100k kit, the one I chose, gives the best light output apparently. The 6000k kit gives a light that looks more blue for the lax bowel brigade but actually has less light according to Nick. I see there are now kits with even higher colour temperature so they will be even bluer but presumably even less light output.

Don't worry that the STi8 isn't listed, there are so many Impreza variations that it would be difficult for someone who isn't a Subaru enthusiast to differentiate between them. You just need to know that you want HID conversions for H1 for the dip beam and/or 9005 for the main beam (or was it the other way round... pop the bonnet and check to be on the safe side).

You will not be disappointed.
