I'm buying a a basic Alpine CD player. Does anyone know what the difference between the 9821 and 9801 models is? They seem to be available at the same price, look the same and have the same spec.

No. They're - both green.
Only the 9801 is listedon the Alpine website but CarAudioDirect are selling the 9821 which seems identical. I assume that it is a discontinued model - just wondered if anyone knew the difference that justified a change in model designation.
