View Full Version : Rear (door) speakers in a MY99 Wagon

I had my new headunit and front speakers fitted today, and in the process, discovered that I'm totally speakerless in the rear doors. I've only had the car a few days, and it looks like the previous owner ripped everything out. :(

Has anyone got any recommendations? The Infinity 5002i pair that I'm now running in the front doors give an excellent soundstage, but are utterly poo in the bass department, so I'm probably after bass in the back rather than clarity.

Oh...I'm not after monster power either, as all four speakers are/will be running off the headunit.

I gather the Wagon has different speaker sizes to the saloon (and are placed in different places?).

TIA

You might want to look in your boot fiirst, some wagons had the speakers in the rear suspension turrets up to a certain year(I think).

I uprated my fronts in my wagon to Infinity components and agree about the Bass issue, I also stuck some wee things from Halfords in the rear doors and you can hardly hear them.
I bought my wagon for the practicality, and am loath to take up boot space with an install, but your question about the rear doors has got me thinking.

Also the rears are smaller but I can't remember the sizes, check out Chiark's FAQ page.

I've just had a nose in my boot, but there's nothing speaker-related in there.

Chiark's site doesn't seem to mention speaker sizes for the rears, apart from 5" ones, but I guess this is for the saloon as there's no way (IMHO) that 5" jobbies will fit in my rear doors! :-)

Cheers!
