Graz 12 March 2004, 10:50 After a bit of looking - am I correct that H4 type is needed? If so, will the rated Osram Silver Star be worth a go? Yep, H4's, just put Osram Silver Stars in mine. Has made quite a good improvement to night missions :) Just over £20 a pair from powerbulbs.com with free sidelight bulbs. Duck_Pond 12 March 2004, 11:02 Cheers - will get some! IN THE STICKS 12 March 2004, 11:10 Another thumbs up for powerbulbs.com (with free sidelight bulbs) Duck_Pond 12 March 2004, 11:57 I've just ordered the Osrams - will I notice a significant improvement from the standard lights? Duck_Pond 12 March 2004, 13:49 Also, any idea how to replace the side lights, should I also get the freebies? scoobylav 12 March 2004, 15:14 Replacing sidelights. Undo screw on top of sidelight and then the sidelight is joined to the main headlight with a kind of ball and socket joint which SHOULD just pop out forwards. Then it is a simple change over of the bulbs. I hope this makes sense. Also the drivers side is normally easier than the the passenger for some reason. Duck_Pond 12 March 2004, 15:45 Ok - thanks. I'll see what comes in the post before attempting it! :) IN THE STICKS 12 March 2004, 16:31 I think it shows you in the owners manual (if you've got it ) Duck_Pond 16 March 2004, 18:18 Aye - and the passenger side was easy... Unfortunately the driver's side was stuck, and now I need to buy a new light, having broken off the ball & socket getting the sodding thing off. D'oh!!! :( It's held in place with the screw at the top, and the plastic protection cover at the mo... Been there, done that..........and no, I didn't buy a new one. Mine is held together now with superglue, reinforced with Araldite, and a bit of brass strip from the local model shop. It's been like that for 4 years, with no ill effects, in and out several times, and still holds together. A good idea is to grease the ball and the socket before refitting it. Alcazar Duck_Pond 16 March 2004, 20:55 I tried superglue by itself... obviously need the extra strength you mention above! I'll give that a go at the weekend. Worth a bodge if it'll save £40.
