Need help with choosing some guages.

Going to do the centre pod with 3 guages - boost, oil temp + 1 other (advice needed)

not sure about the mechanical / electrical stuff - which is easiest to install? at the moment I'm favouring the Defi's (look fantastic) but a bit pricy - any that that match the dash on an MY00 that are a bit cheaper?

Advice and Inspiration requested.

My gauges from them too, Oil temp, (useful for looking at when the engine is actually hot, not just the water), boost and oil pressure.

is the control unit a must to be able to connect them?

how bright are the defi's when the dash is lit up?

You need a control unit with defis: they are "daisy-chained", and the control box feeds tthe correct signal to each one, so only one wire feeding all 3 if you see what I mean?

All senders plug into the control box.

As far as lighting is concerned, mine are almost exactly the same as my OE dash on a '98 car..........slightly lighter green, that's all.

Alcazar - can you explain how to remove the oddments tray and lid, and the cup holder blank where your controller is please?

Autometer (www.autometer.com) are decent quality and reasonably priced. They do a huge range, so just depends on how you want the guages to look. If you want them to blend, then have a look at the Phantom range. If you like nice shiny bezels then maybe Ultra Lite.

Spider: Lift the lid of the oddment tray, and prize out the two screw covers you'll see there.

Undo, and remove the two screws.

Grip the lid, with it almost shut, and pull hard forwards, ie: towards you. The whole thing then comes out.

Once you've undone the hinges from the base/rear of the tray, it goes back in easily too.

Once the tray is out the fixings for the cupholder blank can be seen: on my '98 car there were two screws.

I removed the blank, and sawed away the edges of the plastic, behind it, in order to give clearance for the control box. If I want the blank refitted, a couple of blobs of silicone will hold it, and it'll be an invisible fit.
