I have had a set of Defi-Link Meter BF gauges (& Control Unit II) fitted. After installation, the gauge lighting only came on when the car lights were switched on (not much use looking at the black faces in daytime driving!). The fitter moved the white wire from the Control Unit II from the red wire of the radio wiring harness to the orange wire of the radio wiring harness and the illumination then came on with the ignition, regardless of the state of the car lights.
While this is satisfactory (although a bit too bright at night), I have since discovered that there should be five degrees of gauge brightness for car lights off and five degrees for car lights on, controlled from the up and down buttons on the Control Unit II. In their current wiring state (white wire to orange wire), the gauge brightness cannot be controlled. Does anyone know how to enable this feature? Would the original wiring (white wire to red wire) enable the gauge brigtness to be controlled, for example?
